Netease Entertainment reported on September 19 that Du Qifeng resigned as chairman of the Golden Horse Award Jury because of the limitation of the contract. Du Qifeng expressed his deep regret for the inconvenience. The Golden Horse Award Executive Committee and Chairman Ang Lee expressed their understanding of Du Qifengs situation. It is reported that Wang Tong will take over the chairmanship of the Golden Horse Award Jury.
Wang Tong has won six Golden Horse Awards. In 1976, he first won the 13th Golden Horse Award for Best Art with Maple Leaf Love. In 1981, his maiden work If I Are Real won the 18th Golden Horse Award for Best Picture. In 1983, he won the 20th Golden Horse Award for Best Costume Design with World No. 1. In 1985, he also won the 22nd Golden Horse Award with Driving Horses into Forest. The Golden Horse Award was hit hard again and sponsors ran out after mainland movies withdrew.
