On Tuesday afternoon, Huberts family and friends held a funeral for him at the Chateal Cathedral in northern France. Outside the church hung a giant portrait of Huberts life, while the church was covered with bouquets and chairs with many helmet.
Huberts best friend Le Claire won the championship in Belgium. Le Claire, who took over the trophy, consoled Hubert by pointing his hands to the sky at the award ceremony after the race. Gasley played and lived with Hubert for six years. Hubert was heartbroken when he died in a car accident.
Former F1 world champion Alain Prost said that Huberts death tells us that racing still needs better protection for drivers.
Hamilton, Le Claire and Grosjean and other F1 drivers also participated in a minute of silence for Hubert before the Belgian Grand Prix. Hamilton was equally shocked when he saw Huberts fatal accident on television.
