Cathay Pacific Airlines Group issued the following statement on 9 th regarding Schannas employment by the Dragon Aircrew Association (trade union):
1. Under the system of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, trade unions are totally independent from other organizations, which is different from the mainlands understanding of trade unions. Trade unions in Hong Kong are not controlled by companies, and their decisions do not represent the companys position. ?
2. The employment of Schanna by the Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Aircrew Association has nothing to do with Cathay Pacific Group, which is not involved.
3. Cathay Pacific would like to reiterate that Schanna is no longer an employee of the company, and her words and actions do not represent the companys position.
According to Hong Kong Eastern Network, Chen Shangzhu, Vice President of Cathay Pacific Dragon Aircrew Association, revealed on June 6 that so far about three employees and members of the Association have been unintelligibly dismissed, including former president of the Association, Shi Anna.
However, the Hong Kong Dragon Aircrew Association held a special meeting on the 6th, and continued to deal with its affairs by employing Shi Anna as its Director-General.
On January 21, Cathay Pacific Airlines issued the latest work guidelines, indicating that if employees were found to be involved in or support illegal demonstrations, violence or excessive behavior, the company would investigate or terminate the employment of the employees.
