At 6:42 on September 8, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in Weiyuan County, Neijiang City, Sichuan Province (29.55 degrees north latitude and 104.79 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 km. According to the news office of Sichuan Provincial Government, the expert working group of Sichuan Natural Resources Department has rushed to the earthquake area to guide rescue and disaster relief. At present, the earthquake has not received reports of casualties caused by secondary geological disasters.

After the earthquake, the natural resources system of Sichuan Province acted quickly and immediately put into the prevention of secondary geological disasters. Sichuan Provincial Department of Natural Resources made the first deployment, requiring Neijiang and surrounding cities (prefectures) to pay close attention to the earthquake situation and disaster situation, quickly organize geological hazards investigation and review, and strictly prevent secondary geological disasters causing casualties.

The expert working group of Sichuan Natural Resources Department has rushed to the earthquake area to guide rescue and disaster relief, urge and guide the cities around the earthquake area to immediately carry out secondary geological hazards investigation and implement disaster prevention measures. At present, the county (city, district) Natural Resources Bureau in Neijiang, Zigong, Meishan and other affected areas is responsible for organizing professional units under the leadership of comrades, and has started the investigation of potential secondary geological hazards within their jurisdiction. Up to now, no casualties due to secondary geological disasters have been reported.
