 Hong Kong Police Released Two Suspects of Participation in Airport Violence


CCTV reporters learned from Hong Kong police on August 25 that Hong Kong police arrested a 28-year-old local man surnamed He in Yuen Long District in the early morning of August 13 and 14 in response to the violence at Hong Kong International Airport, and seized a number of suspected offensive weapons in his private car. The man was arrested on suspicion of illegal assembly, wounding and possession of offensive weapons and is being detained for investigation.

In addition, the police also announced another 30-year-old local man surnamed Liu who was suspected of attacking the police in Hong Kong Airport violence. The man was arrested on 14 August in Tuen Mun District and was released on bail pending investigation. He must report to the police in mid-September.

On the evening of August 13 and the early morning of August 14, a large number of demonstrators illegally assembled at Hong Kong International Airport and imprisoned, bullied and assaulted a mainland tourist and a mainland journalist. On the same day, the police arrested five men on suspicion of illegal assembly, possession of offensive weapons, attacking police and destroying social peace.
