In the election, as the only nominee accepted by the Election Committee, He Yicheng was elected by 392 votes. In accordance with the procedure, the results of the election shall be confirmed by the Court of Final Appeal of Macao and published in the SAR Gazette. The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall report the election results to the Central Government.

He Yicheng shall be appointed by the Central Peoples Government and shall be sworn in as the fifth Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Prior to that, He Yicheng published a political platform entitled Cooperative Progress, Change and Innovation, and put forward five governance concepts: improving the level of public governance; promoting diversified economic development; optimizing peoples livelihood construction achievements; increasing personnel training; and building a cultural cooperation base.

He Yicheng said that Macaus 20-year development demonstrates the scientificity and great vitality of one country, two systems. Their decision to stand for election stems from their love for the motherland and deep feelings for Macao, as well as their strong desire and sense of mission to serve Macao residents.

Official resumes show that He Yicheng was born in Macao in June 1957 and his ancestral home is Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. Before Macao returned to the motherland, he served as the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference for four consecutive sessions. He returned to the SAR Government and was elected President of the Legislative Council in October 2013 and re-elected in October 2017. He is also a representative of the Ninth to Thirteenth National Peoples Congress and a member of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress.

In addition to his political experience, He Yicheng is also well-known in the business world. From the bottom, he has worked as a worker, section chief, deputy factory director and manager. He has gradually become the managing director of Hetian Industrial Co., Ltd. in Macao and the chairman of Hetian Investment Development Co., Ltd. in Macao.

Hetian is the name of his father, a famous patriotic businessman and Macau industrialist. He Tian was born in Hangzhou, graduated from Nanjing College of Mechanical Engineering in 1936, and later moved to Macao. He Tian Industry was founded. He became one of the largest manufacturers of plastics, electronics and electronic information products in Macao at that time. He was also known as the first person in Macaos modern industry.

After the reform and opening up, Hetian actively responded to the call of the state and invested in the construction of factories in Zhuhai, Foshan, Hangzhou and Ningbo. He Yicheng also followed his fathers footsteps and strengthened economic and cultural exchanges with the mainland. Among them, he began his further study in Zhejiang University in 1992, majoring in mechanical and electrical engineering and economics, and was hired as a guest researcher in Zhejiang University.

In fact, since he was elected deputy to the National Peoples Congress in 2000 and Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress in 2001, he Yicheng spent only half of his time as an industrialist. Every year, it takes about 100 days to go to Beijing for meetings and inspections. So many meetings and activities have been attended in the whole process. I have never asked for a day off, and I have persisted till now.
