In the end, He Yicheng was elected the fifth Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region by 392 votes.

According to media reports such as Macao Daily and China News Network, He Yicheng is the only candidate for this election. He Yicheng was born in Macao in June 1957. He was a member of the Executive Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region and vice president of the Macao Chinese Chamber of Commerce. In October 2013, he was elected President of the Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region and was re-elected in October 2017. He is a representative of the Ninth to Thirteenth National Peoples Congress and a member of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress.

In April this year, He Yicheng announced his preliminary decision to participate in the election of Chief Executive and proposed to the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress to resign as a deputy to the National Peoples Congress.
