Overseas Network, Aug. 14 - The report of the wreck of the Shiyue was convicted of a false case. Jin Qichun, former chief of staff during the period of Park Shihuis government, was sentenced to one years imprisonment and two yearsprobation. As for the verdict, the survivors of Shiyue said they were unacceptable.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Criminal Court of Seoul Central District Court sentenced the defendant, Jin Qichun, to one years imprisonment and two yearsprobation. The other defendants, former head of state security, Jin Zhangsu and Jinkuanzhen were not guilty in the case.
Jin Qichun and Jin Zhangsu are suspected of providing false information to Congress on the report of the accident at the Presidential Palace. The time recorded in the document when Park accepted the written and telephone reports does not correspond to the facts. Jinkuan Town, suspected of having an accident, ordered to start with the basic principles of national crisis management and revised its content to National Security Office is not a disaster safety control center in order to evade responsibility.

As for the verdict, the survivors of Shiyue expressed unacceptability and protested in front of the court.
According to previous reports, Kim Zhang-soo, head of the National Security Office in front of Tsingwa, advocated that he should report the Shiyue incident to Park Pan-hui from 10.19 to 20 a.m. (Korean time), but Park Pan-hui received a telephone report only two minutes later, which had missed 10.17 a.m. prime time for rescue. In order to shirk responsibility, the Government of Park Shin-hui changed the time of receiving the report to 10:00.
On April 16, 2014, the Shiyue passenger ship, carrying 476 people, sank in the offshore waters of Zhendao County, Quanlonan Road, South Korea, killing 304 people and injuring 142.
