On August 12, Taiwans media released an exclusive message: the PLA has launched a frigate to patrol the west of the Taiwan Strait Central Line for a long time since last year, increasing to two since this year. As the middle line of the Strait is only 80 kilometers away from the west coast of Taiwan, the Taiwanese army is on the alert.
The main battleship of the Taiwanese Army could not be on duty for a long time, so the Taiwanese Army had to deploy 200-ton missile boats to ensure a long-term confrontation with the PLA frigate.
Previously, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said on the issue of US warships crossing the Taiwan Strait that China closely followed and fully grasped the situation of US warships crossing the Taiwan Strait.

According to the exclusive news of Taiwan United News Network on August 12, since last year, the PLA has maintained a frigate patrol along the mid-strait line for a long time, and even increased to two this year. These warships have maintained patrol to the west of the mid-strait line for a long time.
Since the middle line of the Strait is less than 80 kilometers away from the west coast of Taiwan, even if the PLA frigates do not engage in particularly hostile actions, it still poses a threat to the Taiwanese army. In order to cope with the PLA naval warships, the Taiwan Navy had to face off with our frigates for a long time.
According to public information, the Taiwanese Army will regularly send strait reconnaissance cruisers to patrol the eastern side of the middle line of the Strait, commonly known as sea reconnaissance within the Taiwan Navy. Each units maritime reconnaissance lasts for at least a week. The next warship will take over directly to the reconnaissance and patrol area and maintain at least one vessel in the middle of the Channel forever. However, before Joint News Network reported, the Taiwanese Army never disclosed that the maritime reconnaissance unit is designed to confront the PLA frigate.
Taiwanese sources told Lianhe News that, generally speaking, the fleet of PLA vessels going to the first island chain, such as the division of Palace Gu Channel before July this year, is at least 4,000 tons of 054A missile frigate or 7,000 tons of 052D destroyer; in contrast, the pressure line in the middle of the Strait is usually less drainage. Light frigates, such as Type 054 frigates, or older Type 053H, 056, 056A frigates.
According to military commentators on Observer. com, if the source of the Taiwanese Armys message is true, it means that the 056A frigates of several naval frigates in the eastern theatre should be patrolling the middle of the Channel for a long time.

However, due to the shortage of Taiwans main naval vessels, in order to avoid unnecessary depletion of the main battle forces, the Taiwanese army has to adopt the strategy of Tianji Horse Racing. As long as the walrus conditions permit, the Taiwanese Navy will try its best to implement it with Jinjiang-class patrol ship (600 tons) or even Guanghua-6 missile boat (200 tons). However, the Taiwanese army believes that this kind of sea reconnaissance mission Wu also helps to strengthen the training of officers and soldiers of these light ships, which are usually carried out by the 146 fleet of the Ma Gong Navy in Penghu.

At present, Taiwans Ministry of Defense has not commented on the issue of Taiwans missile confrontation with PLA frigates.
On July 25, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying held a regular press conference. A reporter asked questions about the passage of U.S. naval vessels through the Taiwan Strait.
Hua Chunying responded that China has closely followed and fully grasped the situation of US warships crossing the Taiwan Strait and has expressed its concern to the United States. The Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive issue in Sino-US relations. We urge the United States to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques and to exercise caution. We should properly handle Taiwan-related issues so as not to undermine Sino-US relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
On August 1, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force discovered that two PLA fleets which had previously traveled to the Western Pacific had joined together to form a six-vessel formation that crossed the Miyagi Strait northward and entered the East China Sea. This is the largest ocean-going escort formation of the PLA since this year.
