Xu Shouqi, a 66-year-old villager in Shanzao, was ready to flee before the mountain torrent came. He got the news of Lichmas coming from TV very early. When the typhoon approached, on the night of August 9, children from other places ordered in the telephone: You cant sleep at night!
At 1:45 a.m. on August 10, Typhoon No. 9 of this year, Lichma, landed on the coast of Wenling, Zhejiang Province, and ravaged the whole province. The mountain early village of Yantan Town, Yongjia County, caused a special natural disaster because of landslides, flash floods and water level rise. By the time of publication, 23 people had died in Shanzao village and 9 had lost contact.
Xu Shouqis home was built on the back of the hill. He laid 80 cm long steel tile between the back door of the second floor and the hill in advance. He calculated that three or four seconds can run away. Once the house was washed down, it fled to the mountains for its life.
Watching the water level rise little by little, Xu Shouqi could not help but fear, I am almost 70 years old, I have never seen such a large water. Until more than five oclock in the morning, the level of rest, his suspended heart finally put down.
In addition to Shanzao Village, the flood also washed into the city wall of Taizhou Prefecture in Linhai, Zhejiang Province, resulting in water accumulation in the old city area of about 1.5 meters, the ancient city of Linhai instantly became a Zeguo.
As of 13:30 p.m. on November 11, Typhoon Lichma had killed 32 people and left 16 out of touch in Zhejiang.

Shui Man Shan Zao Village
Shanzao Village is surrounded by mountains on both sides. Nanxi River flows through the middle. There are more than 100 villagers living in the village. Most of them are old wooden houses.
On August 9, when the typhoon was coming, the village committee of Shanzao Village had already issued a notice and went to every old house to check the situation.

At 4 a.m. on the 10th, Mr. Xu, who lives in Oubei Town, received a phone call from his father in Shanzao Village. His 63-year-old father shouted, Its over, and the phone was suddenly interrupted and could not be dialed anymore.
Mr. Xu dialed all the calls he could make on his mobile phone. First of all, he thought of his 39-year-old friend, Hes young and may be able to save my family. But as soon as the phone was dialed, the other party stopped shouting Help.
Xu Wenhai, Secretary of Shanzao Village on duty on the 9th night, stayed up all night. He remembered clearly that at 4:10 a.m., the wind began to get stronger, and suddenly the mountain torrents collapsed and blocked, forming a barrier lake here, and the water poured in. Five or six minutes later, in the low terrain of the village, the water had reached four stories high.
When I saw the water getting bigger, I called the people (residents) by the river to pay attention. Typhoon came, the water rose and fled quickly.
Hang up the phone, Xu Wenhai hurried to call his 80-year-old mother. Mother usually lives with her brother, only 100 meters away from his residence. When the mountain torrent broke out, my brother went out and only my mother was in her three-storey house. Mother shouted on the phone, The water is rising, what should we do? Secretary Xu grabbed the phone and ran downstairs, but the flood had flooded his first floor. Even at a distance of 100 meters, he had no way to go.
When he arrived at his brothers house, the door fell off and the furniture was rushed out. As soon as he entered the door, he found his mother, who had fallen down the stairway on the first floor. She may have wanted to run upstairs, but it was too late.
Xu Wenhai, 60, picked up his mother and put it on the falling door. I hope my mother is okay. He then gave her CPR and artificial respiration. After four or five minutes, he reached out to explore her nose, and there was no heat left. Only then did he realize that his mother was really gone.
I just called her and promised to rescue her. In the early morning of the 10th, the town was in a serious disaster. His cell phone rang in his pocket. Xu Wenhai could not speak a word when he connected the phone, but sat beside his mother and wept. He consciously failed to do his sons duty.
At daybreak, he took his mother to the bed in the inner room and covered the quilt. The body was cared for by passing acquaintances, and Xu Wenhai went to other parts of the village for disaster relief.
On August 10, 2019, under the influence of super typhoon Liqima, a heavy rainstorm in Shanzao Village, Yantan Town, Yongjia County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province triggered landslides and flash floods.
When the mountain torrent came, Ms. Xu, a villager in Shanzao Village, slept on the second floor with her seven-month-old child. Suddenly, she heard a scream from her mother on the first floor, The water is overflowing.
She woke up, ran downstairs and her mother lifted up her father, who had hurt his leg, and pulled him up to the second floor. It was only after a while that the first floor was completely flooded. No sooner had they reached the top of the third floor than the water overflowed the ground. At this time, a large piece of iron drifted over, stuck between the house and the back hill, Ms. Xu held the child, with her mother and several villagers, helped climb up the iron, ran back up the hill, and her father could only wait for rescue on the third floor.
Floods come and go quickly. At about 4:20, when the water level dropped, Ms. Xu just ran up the hill. The water has receded. Its about ten minutes before and after.
Around 6 a.m., when she saw the fire brigade and confirmed her fathers safety, Ms. Xu knew that her three aunts had been washed away by the water and that her uncle had swam out to escape the disaster. Their house is a little lower, and suddenly the water floods to the third floor. We have ten minutes. They only have two minutes.
At 10 a.m., Mr. Xu and his wife, who drove back to Shanzao village overnight, climbed home along the mountain road, a 40-minute highway ride that usually took them overnight.
Fortunately, his father took his granddaughter to the top of the three-storey building and was rescued. In the process of escaping to the top of the building, Erbo accidentally fell down the torrent. He held the power pole collapsed on the roadside and forced his mouth and nose to float above the water until rescuers arrived.
But Mr. Xus three mothers and friends who shouted for help to him last night were killed in the accident. Before returning to Oubei Town from Shanzao Village, Mr. Xus car would carry several villagers from the same village. Several of the people who ride together are gone.
After the flood, the village was full of ruins and broken tiles. The pole collapsed, the wall collapsed, and there was a mess. Mr. Xu said.
Waterlogging in Linhai Ancient City: The deepest water has never passed the neck of firefighters
For Taizhou people, the annual typhoon visits and floods pour into their homes are almost everyday.
Wen Wens home is in Yongfeng Town, Linhai, Taizhou. In her memory, only two floods caused by typhoon left a deep impression on her: One was in 1998, when I was young, I was not impressed by typhoon. I only remember that the floods were almost on the second floor of my home, and the other was in 2004, when the water was half of the first floor.
But Lichmas dangerous was totally unexpected.
On the morning of August 11, 2019, the flood water level in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, declined gradually. At the same time, people at all levels began to rescue themselves.
When she received an early warning from her unit on August 9, she didnt feel anything terrible. Because we are used to such floods, our neighbours are calm.
But on the morning of August 10, it rained continuously and flooded the courtyard at the entrance. Before noon, the water entered the ground floor.
More than two oclock in the afternoon, shortly after the two-day rainstorm stopped, a torrent burst through the Xingshan Gate of Linhai Ancient City and poured into the city. On Ziyang Street, Mr. Wang is in the courtyard of his own house. In a few minutes, the water has not passed his calf.
He led his staff up to the second floor, and when he was ready to go home, the water in the street had already passed his waist. The cars parked on the road were soaked in the water, and the water in the car covered the seats. Mr. Wang took a wooden stick and explored the road. He traveled for half an hour and half.

After 3 p.m., the rain almost stopped. However, the water level is still rising due to the flood discharge in Tiantai and Xianju districts.
Ms. Dong, who opened a shop in Ziyang Street, was unable to walk home and was trapped on the second floor with several elderly people.
After the first floor was flooded, freezers, tables and chairs collapsed, drifting and crashing, and table tennis kept ringing.
Ms. Dong kept calling 110 police.
At the same time, Wen Wen, who watched the water level rise and fell into a panic, dialed 110 rescue telephone, but the police force was limited and rescue workers could not rush to it quickly. At 5:00 a.m., her help-seeking message in the circle of friends was forwarded in large quantities. Some friends provided contact phone calls to the submarine, but when they called, the other party responded that they had been involved in rescue.
At 6 p.m., four rescuers dressed in camouflage clothes arrived and rescued three of Wenwens family trapped on the balcony on the second floor.
Towards 7 p.m., Ms. Dong and the trapped elderly were finally rescued. Firefighters brought a rubber boat and carried the old man onto the boat. Ms. Dong just got on board and a big wave hit the boat. The boat almost turned over. Seven or eight firefighters grabbed both sides and barely held back. The deepest part of the water did not reach the neck of the firefighters. The waves moved once. You can see the cars parked by the roadside. Theyve been holding on and towing the boat.
The boat escorted Ms. Dong to the high-lying Chonghe Men Square, and the rubber boat returned to Ziyang Street for rescue. Its already dark and drizzling. People in the old city are gathering here slowly. Everything is crowded with people.
On the morning of August 11, Taizhou Publishing released a message that the ancient city is undergoing drainage and the water level is declining. At present, the water level is no longer rising. According to statistics, there are 784 policemen in Linhai City, including 4 fire alarms, 778 emergency rescues and 2 social rescues, and 1063 people were rescued and evacuated.

Hospital: Five nurses work together to rescue the old people on the roadside
At about 5 p.m. on August 10, injuries affected by typhoon were sent to Yongjia County Peoples Hospital for treatment.
I was in charge of patients on duty. I couldnt count the injuries last night. I had to do anything. A nurse on duty said that the injured mainly came from the area of Yantou Town, and the specific number had not yet been counted. Several of the more serious injuries are being rescued in the emergency room.

Vice President Zhou of Yongjia Peoples Hospital introduced to reporters of Beijing News that experts from our hospital and experts from the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Wenzhou Medical University were temporarily forming an expert group to centralize the treatment of typhoon injuries. The hospital set up a special ward to provide treatment for these injured persons.
As typhoon injuries are mainly concentrated in orthopaedics, traumatology and other departments, half of the wards on the floor of orthopaedics are dedicated to receiving typhoon injuries. There are more than 20 beds, more than a dozen specialists, as well as specialists in psychological intervention. Vice President Zhou said, The condition of injuries and illnesses is basically stable now. It is mainly concerned about psychological problems, because some of the injured lost their relatives in the typhoon.
At about 6:20 p.m. on August 10, when Wang Chen, head nurse of the Radiotherapy Department of Taizhou Hospital, one kilometer away from Ziyang Street, was using his mobile phone to photograph the flood, he unexpectedly found an elderly man in critical condition in the camera. The 50-year-old man was sitting on the ground paralyzed against the wall. His lower body could not move. There were many abrasions on his body. His limbs were white because of long soaking in water.
On August 10, 2019, rescue workers in Linhai City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province used stormboats to transfer trapped people.
At that time, he was a little unconscious, unable to respond to people normally, and the residents around him were not too dare to approach. We as medical staff saw that this situation needed the first time to rescue. But Wang Chen and his colleague five nurses couldnt move him. They contacted the hospital security department to help him. Ten minutes later, the wounded man was sent to the rescue room for intubation treatment.
Later, Wang Chen learned that he was a uremic patient who had been undergoing hemodialysis treatment in Taizhou Hospital for a long time. In order to facilitate treatment, he lived with his mother in the residential area next to the hospital. Nearby residents told Wang Chen that the patients home had been flooded and his bank card and mobile phone had not been brought out. In order to seek help, his mother went to the neighborhood to find help, so she temporarily placed him here.
We followed him to the emergency department for examination and found that at that time he was purple, oxygen saturation was only more than 60, normal people generally over 95, so it should be choking water. Wang Chen said.
Because his family couldnt get in touch at that time, we immediately opened the green channel on the emergency side and all the rescue measures kept up with it. Wang Chen said.
Shanzao Village Rescue Team: Turning the Ruins for People by Hand
Zhang Weihao, political instructor of Yongjia Fire and Rescue Squadron, was one of the first members to come to Shanzao Village to participate in the rescue. At 7:30 a.m. on August 10, he and his teammates rushed to Shanzao Village and immediately put into rescue.
At more than 8 oclock, they found the bodies of two old people and a child in a house. They should be grandparents and granddaughters. They are all clay men. Zhang Weihao, together with 56 firefighters, carried the bodies out of the house, and soon heard the cry of the woman. The woman has been holding the child crying, the childs body has been stiff.
Because rubber boats and other rescue tools can not be transported into the village, so all rescue methods are relatively primitive. Firefighters need to tie ropes around their waists and dive into the river to hold their bodies ashore. A young man in his 20s just came back from other places. When we salvaged a corpse in the river, he recognized it as his father and salvaged it with us. After the corpse was salvaged, the young man sat on the shore without talking, crying or crying, and sat there for 20 minutes.
After a whole day of rescue, firefighters found seven bodies upstream and six downstream. Zhang Weihaos feet were blistered about 2 centimeters. After dressing the wound, he turned around and continued his rescue work.

At the same time, the black horse rescue team, a non-governmental rescue organization, participated in the rescue. Knowing that the disaster in Yongjia was very serious, the Black Horse rescue team urgently gathered 28 members with strong professional qualities and five rubber boats. They gathered at 12 noon on August 10 and arrived at Shanzao Village, Yantan Town, Yongjia, at more than 3 p.m.
When we arrived at Shanzao Village, the car could not drive into the village. The Black Horse Rescue Team left four people to guide traffic on the highway. The remaining 24 people all went down to support.
When I came over, I saw that the villages were submerged, with yellow oceans and muddy water on both sides, Pan Chunping, director of the Black Horse Rescue Teams office, told the Beijing News, Ive never seen such a big typhoon.

Chen Chong, a member of the Black Horse Rescue Team, told reporters that after arriving at Shanzao Village, most of the residents had evacuated except for a local person who led them to carry out the rescue work. Only some of the family members were waiting for news. At the scene, Chen Chong saw that many old wooden houses were razed to the ground, and the top four floors were marked by floods.
After entering the rescue site, people began carpet search to find the lost villagers. The stratum in Shanzao village is thin. In addition to the detectors of firefighters, the Black Horse rescue team searches for people by turning over the ruins with their bare hands. That is to say, the rescue team digs deep in a certain place according to the guess of their families, which is equivalent to gambling.

We need to remove the debris with our bare hands and dig it slowly with a spade, Chen Chong told reporters.
The Black Horse rescue team dug two main points of manpower, but until the evening the team evacuated there was no search for missing personnel.
There are two possibilities for people who are out of touch at present. One is buried under the mud, the other is washed away. Zhang Weihao said.
In the early morning of November 11, Wenzhou Fire Rescue Detachment dispatched 16 squadrons, 17 fire trucks and more than 120 firefighters to Shanzao Village to continue searching for lost villagers. Zhang Weihao told reporters that the ruins were cleared while rescuing the people on the 10th, while the main task on the 11th was to find the missing persons. Because the house collapsed in ruins, the ruins were cleared to save people, the bottom is mud, more than a meter thick.
