Four people were killed and one lost in a family of 12 near the spillway of Yongjia barrier lake

In the early morning of August 10, typhoon Liqima landed in Zhejiang Province. Due to the heavy rainstorm, the rainfall in the mountain area of Zaochun village, Yantan Town, Yongjia County, Wenzhou reached 160 mm in just three hours, which caused landslides and blocked rivers after landslides. In 10 minutes, the highest level of mountain floods reached 10 meters. About 120 people in the village were besieged by floods. Because of the rapid rise of floods, some villagers could not evacuate to safety, and the barrier lake burst again, causing casualties and loss of contact. According to CCTV news reports, as of today (August 11), 13:30, Yongjia County, Yantan Town, Shanzao Village, 23 people died and 9 lost contact.

On the afternoon of August 11, Xu Chaoyou, a villager in Shanzao village, told Xinjing News that his family was near the flood discharge outlet of the barrier lake. Four of the 12 people in his family were killed, the youngest of whom was only five years old, and one lost contact.

Xu Chaoyou recalled that on August 10, he was not at home. At about 4:40 a.m., he was woken up by a telephone call from his little aunt. The other sides voice was urgent, saying that the water had flooded the second floor, the house had collapsed seriously, the third floor tiles have fallen off, so Xu Chaoyou hurried to call the rescue phone.

Before the voice fell, Xu Chaoyou heard a loud bang on the other end of the phone, and the phone was cut off. It should be the sound of the collapse of the house. Xu Chaoyou said.

Subsequently, Xu Chaoyou dialed 119 rescue calls many times, but because of the flood and road congestion on that day, rescue workers did not rush to Xu Chaoyous home until more than seven oclock. In this process, Xu Chaoyous youngest aunt and second uncles telephone has always been unable to connect.

Xu Chaoyou also rushed home. At that time, the road into the village was blocked and no outsiders were allowed to enter. Xu Chaoyou had to climb the mountain and walk. More than 9 a.m., when Xu Chaoyou arrived home, his family had no tiles left, only a piece of ruins.

Among them, the bodies of the second uncle, the second aunt, his wife and his 8-year-old daughter were found by villagers yesterday, drifting out for more than a dozen kilometers, when the water receded, they just floated up and were hung by stones. Xu Chaoyou said that the body of her 5-year-old son was also found today, but the young aunt is still in a lost connection.

At 16 p.m., when a reporter from the Beijing News contacted Xu Chaoyou, he was rushing to Wenzhou funeral home to identify the body.
