On August 7, tourists were struck by lightning in Lushan Scenic Area. Today (August 9) afternoon, the Lushan Administration News Center reported that five people were injured in the lightning strike, three of whom were slightly injured and two seriously injured, and were being treated in two local hospitals.

The Beijing News reported earlier that on August 7, tourists were struck by lightning while playing in Lushan Scenic Area. Li Feng, deputy director of emergency department of the First Peoples Hospital of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, said that many people were sent to hospital on August 7 for treatment because of lightning strike. After the injured were brought in, the medical staff judged that the injuries were caused by lightning stroke according to the scars and symptoms on their bodies. Those with serious injuries were unconscious when they were sent, accompanied by irritability, low blood pressure and rapid heart rate.

Today (August 9) afternoon, the Lushan Administration Information Center reported that at 12:10 on August 7, the exit of Lushan Xianrendong scenic spot was hit by lightning and some tourists were injured. After the lightning injury, the workers in Lushan scenic spot immediately carried out rescue work. The injured were sent to Lushan Peoples Hospital in time for emergency treatment and then to Jiujiang First Peoples Hospital. It has been confirmed that five of the tourists were injured during the medical examination, of which three were slightly injured and two were seriously injured. The seriously injured were a pair of mother and daughter from Zibo City, Shandong Province.

After the lightning strike, the scenic area management department immediately closed the scenic areas of Jinxiu Valley and Xianrendong and evacuated tourists to prevent the recurrence of lightning strike.

At present, two seriously injured tourists are being further treated in Jiujiang First Peoples Hospital and Jiujiang Womens and Childrens Hospital. At present, the relevant departments are actively dealing with follow-up matters.
