BEIJING, July 25, according to KBS, the former President of South Korea Park Shinhui, who was sentenced to six years in the first trial on suspicion of illegally accepting special activities fees from the National Intelligence Agency, was sentenced to five yearsimprisonment in the second trial. Up to now, the court has sentenced Park to 32 yearsimprisonment.

According to reports, Park was prosecuted for accepting more than 3.5 billion won from the then President of the State Council from May 2013 to September 2016 through Li Zaiwan, former Secretary of Tsing Wa Tai.
The Criminal Department of the Seoul High Court sentenced Park to five yearsimprisonment and recovered 2.7 billion won.
According to reports, the court of first instance ruled that Park was not guilty of bribery and only convicted of the loss of his treasury. He was sentenced to six yearsimprisonment and recovered 3.3 billion won. However, the prosecution refused to accept the bribery charges and appealed, suggesting that the court sentenced Park to 12 yearsimprisonment.
The report points out that both the first and second trials involving Park Shinhui have been completed. Up to now, the court has sentenced Park to 32 yearsimprisonment.
