American women have been sentenced to 25 years for suffocating their daughter in a car and claiming exorcism

A California woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after she claimed to exorcise her 3-year-old daughter and left her in a sealed and hot car for nearly 10 hours, killing her, US officials said.

The District attorneys office in Sakhamando said Fakhsin was convicted of first-degree murder in June for the deliberate murder of his daughter Maya, and his fianc-in-law, Smith, was also charged with involvement in the case and is currently awaiting trial.

Authorities say the couple lived in a car after moving from Arkansas to California in February 2016. They also said the couple put the girl in a hot car for two weeks in June 2017.

The prosecution said the girl was once confined in the car for four and a half hours, and the next day for nine and a half hours, and eventually died.

The prosecution said: Faxin was repeatedly advised to take good care of Maia, and she was advised to take Maia to a cooler place, but she did not listen to it.
