Fixed telecommunications revenue has maintained steady growth. In the first half of the year, three basic telecommunication enterprises realized fixed telecommunication business income of 212.5 billion yuan, an increase of 9.8% over the previous year, accounting for 31.6% of telecommunication business income, and realized mobile telecommunication business income of 459.6 billion yuan, a decrease of 4% over the previous year, accounting for 68.4% of telecommunication business income.

Data and Internet business revenue enter the micro-growth channel. In the first half of the year, the revenue of mobile data and Internet business of the three basic telecom enterprises reached 308.6 billion yuan, an increase of 0.7% over the same period last year. The growth rate fell by 1.5 percentage points and 9.5 percentage points respectively from the first quarter and the whole year of 2018, accounting for 45.9% of the revenue of telecommunication business, which helped to increase the revenue of telecommunication business by 0.34 percentage points. By the end of June, the total number of mobile phone subscribers of the three basic telecommunications enterprises reached 1.59 billion, up 5% from the same period last year, but decreased by 3.53 million from the end of last month. Among them, 396 million FTTH/O users account for 91% of the total fixed Internet broadband access users. Broadband access users continue to migrate to high speed, with 335 million subscribers with access rates of 100 Mbps or above, accounting for 77.1% of the total number of subscribers, an increase of 3.4 percentage points and 6.8 percentage points over the first quarter and the end of last year, respectively.

The penetration rate of mobile Internet users to mobile phone users has steadily increased. The number of mobile Internet users is 1.3 billion, and the penetration rate of mobile phone users is 82.2%. IPTV (Network Television) has 281 million subscribers, with a penetration rate of 64.7% for fixed broadband access users, up 0.5 percentage points from the first quarter.

In terms of telecom service usage, the data show that mobile Internet traffic keeps doubling and the growth rate falls month by month. In the first half of the year, the cumulative traffic of mobile Internet reached 55.4 billion GB, the annual growth rate dropped from 129.1% in the first quarter to 107.3%. Mobile SMS business volume and revenue have maintained a growth trend. Driven by the popularity of services such as service login and identity authentication, the business volume and revenue of short message service keep growing synchronously. In the first half of the year, the national mobile short message business grew 35.5% year-on-year, and the revenue of mobile short message business reached 20.8 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year.

In terms of communication capability, data show that by the end of June, the number of Internet broadband access ports in China had reached 903 million, an increase of 8.6% over the previous year, a net increase of 17.76 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of FTTH/O ports reached 813 million, a net increase of 33.17 million compared with the end of last year, accounting for 90% of the total number of ports, which increased by 0.8% and 2 percentage points respectively compared with the first quarter and the whole year of 2018. Compared with the end of last year, the number of xDSL ports decreased by 6.51 million, and the total number dropped to 9.95 million, accounting for 1.1% from 1.9% at the end of last year.

Influenced by the rapid growth of Internet of Things business and the increasing demand for base stations, the total number of mobile communication base stations is 7.32 million, of which 4.45 million are based on 4.4 million, accounting for 60.8%.

In the first half of the year, 1.87 million kilometers of new optical cable lines were built nationwide, with the total length of optical cable lines reaching 45.46 million kilometers, an increase of 13% over the previous year, maintaining a relatively rapid growth trend. The proportion of access network optical cable, local network relay optical cable and long-distance optical cable line is 63%, 34.5% and 2.5% respectively.

By the end of June, 15.22 million fixed broadband access users, 79.95 million fixed broadband access users, 81.66 million fixed broadband access users and 21.49 million fixed broadband access users in the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions accounted for 78.2%, 77.5%, 74% and 81.2% of the total fixed Internet broadband access users in the region, respectively, with a small proportion in the northeastern region.
