Netease Technologies News July 25, according to foreign media reports, after Tesla released the second quarter of 2019 earnings report, CEO Elon Musk announced at the earnings conference that JBStraubel, co-founder and long-term chief technical officer of the company, would step down and become a senior consultant of the company.
Drew Baglino, Teslas vice president of engineering, will take over as chief technical officer.
According to sources, Straubel has rarely appeared at Teslas headquarters in Palo Alto in the past six to eight months.
Straubel attended the earnings conference by telephone. He said his departure did not mean that he lacked confidence in Teslas future. He planned to continue to participate in the development of some of Teslas core technologies. I will not disappear, I just want people to understand that this does not mean that I lack confidence in the company or team. He added that he loved the company.
Rumors have it that he will concentrate more on a mysterious material recycling startup he founded a few years ago, apparently not related to Tesla.
Industry insiders pointed out that Straubels departure was a huge loss for Tesla.
He has been working in Tesla since the beginning. In fact, he brought Musk into the company, so he entered the company earlier than Musk. Nevertheless, Musk later became a co-founder because he made a vital financial contribution to the company at the beginning of its establishment.
Straubels role in Tesla cannot be underestimated. Over the years, the executive has been responsible for several of the companys key technology projects, especially those related to batteries and power electronics. His low-key and stable personality, as well as his technical acumen, can bring stability to the company even when its CEO is in dispute.
Although he will still be involved in Teslas work in the future, it sounds like his new role will be larger than his current position. (Lebanon)
