On July 24, the courier is putting the package into the express cabinet of Rundu Building. Zhang Zhuozhao, Intern of Cheng Zibo, Internship Journalist of New Beijing News
The issue of the last kilometer of express delivery has once again become the focus of public opinion.
According to the latest news on the official website of the State Post Office, Measures for the Management of Intelligent Express Cabinet Delivery Service (hereinafter referred to as Measures) came into effect on October 1. Subsequently, without the consent of the recipient, the courier will not be free to put the package into the smart express cabinet. However, the Beijing News reporter visited several districts in Beijing and found that many smart express cabinets have become handbox and express delivery staff have long relied on them.
There are policies, there are Countermeasures under it. Wang Ming, a courier in charge of distribution in Guangqu Home District, told reporters that he had learned the news through the news and might not be able to deliver it at will in the future, but he still put it in the express cabinet. In interviews, most couriers said, No courier cabinet, no delivery.
In fact, the smart express cabinet market, which has always been regarded as a chicken rib in the industry, has already started a war. New Beijing News reporter combed to see that from 2012 to 2015, the express industry giants continue to increase the number of intelligent express cabinet market, more and more players entered. According to the current market structure of express cabinet, Zhao Xiaomin, an expert in logistics industry, said that in the case of a single express cabinet market, the growth rate of novice birds is the fastest, and in terms of market scale, Fengchao is the largest, which is a preliminary separatist pattern.
Shentong Yunda and other couriers send hand-off express cabinets
On July 22, a reporter from the New Beijing News visited Rundu Building in Fengtai. The couriers from China Post, Debang and Jingdong all told the reporters that they would put the express in the express cabinet. However, a Debon courier said that if the customer asked to place the courier cabinet itself, it would be placed directly and the address would be sent home accurately.
I come twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Xiaojiang, a Chinese postal courier, told the Beijing News that he was responsible for the distribution of Rundu Building. Some people found the express cabinet convenient, while others did not want to go any further. Some also ask you to send it to his desk or complain about it. After learning about the new express rules to be implemented, Xiaojiang confessed that if the customer clearly fills in the distribution information and delivers it to his home, he would not have enough time to make phone calls one by one.
Asked how to distribute large quantities of express mail without intelligent express cabinet, Xiao Jiang said bluntly: Hard send, if you cant send it out, take it back and forth as a problem piece, and run back and forth several times a day.
Shentong and Yunda couriers are delivering to express cabinets in Jingxin Jiayuan District, 2 kilometers from Rundu Building. Shentong Express said that no one was in charge of the delivery area during the day, most of them had gone to work, so they would put express directly into the express cabinet. Yunda Express also said that express mail should be put into express cabinet without calling. In addition, he told reporters that Debon Express will not directly deliver to the express cabinet, because express big too.
On the same day, the reporter also visited Guangqu Home Community, Guoxing Guanhu International Community and post-modern city. Most couriers told reporters in the Beijing News that, in order to complete the task and ensure the safety of the goods to be delivered, they usually choose to put the goods directly into the express cabinet. In Guoxing Guanhu International Community, a Shunfeng courier said that fresh and valuable items would be delivered directly to the home through communication with customers, while other items would be placed directly in the courier cabinet.
In fact, the lazy express mode of some couriers has already aroused controversy. Mr. Li once had a bad experience. He told the Beijing News that the express delivery clerk put the fruit express into the intelligent express cabinet without permission, and eventually the fruit rotted in the express cabinet because of forgetting. However, Shumi prefers express cabinets. He believes that it can avoid the embarrassment of answering the phone and also ensure the safety of express delivery. However, Shumi also said that if the online purchase of urgently needed items, or hope that the courier can be delivered as soon as possible.
Shentong Express and Yunda Express have previously responded to reporters that the company has always required couriers to deliver express to express cabinet to inform and obtain customer consent. In this regard, Yang Daqing, a special researcher of China Logistics Society, told reporters that the new regulations are conducive to standardizing the use of express cabinets. In the express delivery link, there exists a mismatch between the time when the courier arrives at the door and the time when the consumer receives the courier. It is necessary to use the intelligent courier cabinet to continue the service. After the implementation of the Measures, couriers must communicate with customers whether to send intelligent courier cabinets, which increases the time cost, but this is a very necessary trouble.
Take down the last kilometer of head player to seek self-built box
In fact, couriers need to pay for the use of smart courier cabinets. Wang Ming told reporters that the small cabinet is 0.35 yuan, the middle cabinet is 0.4 yuan and the big cabinet is 0.45 yuan. If the customer cant get the express from the smart express cabinet within the prescribed time, they need to take it out again and put it in again, which will cost 7 cents. For each express delivery, the user earns about 1.45 yuan, which will consume nearly half of the revenue of the delivery order if the user fails to take it out of time.
However, for express franchisees, smart express cabinet is still the way to save money. An industry observer calculated an account to the reporter. If the franchiser can earn 10 million yuan a day, a single express delivery is calculated at 0.3 yuan (paid to the express cabinet company), but also spent only 3 million yuan. But in this case, a courier can complete a single volume of two people, franchisors can save labor costs. Employeesfood, shelter and insurance are all money.
According to CCTV reports, Chinas express delivery business in 2018 completed 50.5 billion pieces, an increase of 25.8%. Express business will reach 60 billion units in 2019. The trend of consumersonline shopping is obvious, and the demand for the last kilometer of services is also expanding. At the same time, express companies are also stepping up distribution at the end of the layout.
The trend now is that companies are making their own smart express cabinets. Industry insiders told reporters that Yundas honeypot, Shentongs Miao cabinet, Zhongtongs Rabbit Happiness (in the form of a post station) and so on have the meaning of winning the last kilometer.
Beijing News reporter learned that the current terminal distribution methods include direct door-to-door distribution, delivery of intelligent express cabinets, placed in collection points, and cooperation with post stations. The industry observers told reporters that terminal distribution includes sharing mode and exclusive mode. Delivery of intelligent express cabinets, cooperation with post stations and property placement belong to sharing mode. In contrast, the collection point is the exclusive mode, Sharing is not only an express delivery, collection point belongs to the exclusive mode, a company can not let go of other companies, (for example), some convenience stores can only accept a express companys express delivery.
Yunda told Xinjing News that since 2013, Yunda has cooperated with convenience stores. Customers collect express delivery from convenience stores free of charge, while express companies need to pay convenience store delivery fees, labor costs and other related fees. In this regard, Shentong said that there are many end-to-end distribution modes at present, and it will further integrate end-to-end distribution resources and accelerate intelligent end-to-end distribution tools in the future.
Yunda and Shentong said that the terminal distribution parts such as intelligent express cabinet are still in the preparatory or preliminary stage, and will be laid out nationwide in the future, according to the terminal conditions of different cities.
For the reasons for self-built express cabinets, observers told reporters that express companies want to protect their own data and avoid leakage. In addition, out of the attempt to occupy the market, express companies hope to cover more markets. If you dont do it, someone else will do it, and then the voice will be monopolized by others.
At present, the delivery function of the whole express cabinet industry is relatively perfect, and the receiving and sending function still needs a development process. According to industry observers, express mail receipt involves real-name and security issues, such as possible contraband. Currently, companies are still in the testing stage for the function of smart express receipt.
Shunfeng and novice express delivery allies
In fact, the battle for the smart express cabinet market has already begun.
After the establishment of the first smart package delivery terminal by China Post in 2010, the smart express cabinet industry has entered the public eye. From 2012 to 2015, a large number of smart express cabinet enterprises were established. With the entry of capital, enterprises began to put smart express cabinets in Jingdong in August 2012. In December of the same year, EMS was established. In 2013, Suning began to put smart express cabinets, and in 2014, cloud cabinets were established. In 2015, Shunfeng, Shentong, Zhongtong, Yunda and Pross jointly invested to establish Fengchao.
In January 2017, Fengchao received 2.5 billion yuan in round A financing, which opened the pace of rapid expansion. The following year, three listed companies, Shunfeng, Shentong and Yunda, announced that they would invest heavily in Fengchao Science and Technology. According to the official data provided by Fengchao, as of July 24, 2019, Fengchao has covered more than 100 cities and 150,000 intelligent express cabinet outlets in China. Its market share in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen is over 70%, and its daily package handling capacity exceeds 10 million pieces.
It is worth noting that in the competition for this market, the rookie network has long been laid out. In 2017, ST Santai, the parent company of Fongchaos biggest rival Express, announced that after China Post and Fosun, it had signed a preliminary letter of intent to cooperate with its subsidiaries.
According to public media reports, there were 56,000 sets of express cabinets in the country at that time. Next is Fengchao.
Such a node into the nest of the largest competitive express, just in time for the novice and nest data debate has just come to an end.
On June 1, 2017, the official micro-blog of the rookie network issued a statement that Shunfeng suspended its logistics data interface. Then Shunfeng responded in its official micro-blog that since May 2017, based on its own commercial interests, the rookie had asked for private data of customers that had nothing to do with it. After refusing this request, the rookie unilaterally declined in 2017. At 0:00 on June 1, 2001, FengNei Information Interface was cut off. In addition, Shunfeng was removed from the logistics option by Ali Platform, and the third-party platform interface was blocked by newbies.
The battle did not end until the State Post Office came out to mediate. Behind the competition, it is not only a data dispute between the two giants, but also a dispute of voice and interests.
Until June 2018, Shentong and Yunda withdrew their capital and ceased to hold shares in Fengchao. According to Yunda announcement, Shenzhen Weirong shares 48.24%, the largest shareholder, Shunfeng shares 14.42%, the second largest shareholder; Shentong and Yunda, which originally accounted for 9.09% and 2.72% respectively, have withdrawn from the ranks of shareholders. So far, coupled with the withdrawal of Zhongtong before, Tongdao has completely withdrawn from Fengchao.
Market participants have told Xinjing News that the Department of Communications has the intention of leaving Shunfeng as a major shareholders nest and turning to Ali rookie. Prior to this, the five major private express companies four links and one access (Zhongtong, Yuantong, Shentong, Baishihuitong, Yunda) have a good cooperative relationship with Alibaba. On March 11, 2019, Shentong announced that Ali would invest 4.66 billion yuan in Shentong Express Controlling Shareholder Company. Since then, only one of the four links and one access has not accepted Alis investment, and the other four have joined Alis logistics club.
Some people think that Shen Tongyundas stock exchange may not want to keep losing money behind Fengchao. In this regard, Xu Yong, an expert in express delivery industry, once told the Beijing News that withdrawing from Fengchao may be an agreement with restrictions on competition and has nothing to do with the loss of Fengchao. Zhao Xiaomin, an expert on express delivery, said that Shentong Yundas withdrawal was earlier than the market expected, but within the expected range, the withdrawal of the relevant parties would not affect the normal use of users, and the withdrawal of the access system would accelerate the market layout of the express terminal industry.
According to the data of the State Post Office, the number of express cabinets in China in 2018 is about 200,000. It is expected that by 2020, the rate of express inbound will reach 20%. The corresponding demand for express cabinets is about 76 million. The market demand and potential are huge. However, although as a head player, Fengchaos profit is not optimistic. As of May 31, 2018, Fengchaos operating income was 288 million yuan, its net profit was - 249 million yuan, and its total assets was 6.311 billion yuan.
Aiming at the revenue problem of express terminal enterprises such as intelligent express cabinet, Yang Daqing told Beijing News that express terminal services are difficult to develop in isolation, and only relying on the whole logistics link can it be valuable. If profits are sought in the short term, the service chain may be fragmented.
Fengchao told the Beijing News that in 2019, Fengchao will work on advertising sales, value-added services for C-end users, and commercial customization projects to increase revenue.
Intelligent express cabinet will become the mainstream of express delivery?
In view of whether the express companys self-built intelligent express cabinet will abandon Fengchao, industry observers said that at present, it will not. In the field of intelligent express cabinet, Fengchao occupies an absolute first-mover advantage, appearing earlier in the industry and has a higher market share.
Zhao Xiaomin, an expert in logistics industry, said that the diversified terminal delivery solutions, such as direct door-to-door distribution, placement in collection points and cooperation with post stations, will still have a strong vitality for a long time in the future.
Zhao Xiaomin said that for quite a long time, intelligent express cabinet is still an important part of express terminal, but express delivery door-to-door is still the mainstream. In this regard, many express companies have told reporters that intelligent express cabinet is still a supplement to terminal distribution. It shows that a single express cabinet market is difficult to have a large space for development, and the solution of end-to-end integration has a greater opportunity for development.
In addition, according to the website of the State Post Office, the Measures for the Administration of Operating License of Express Business, which came into effect on January 1, 2019, stipulates that when operating express business, it shall obtain the operating license of express business according to law and accept the supervision and management of the postal administration department and other relevant departments; without permission, no unit or individual may operate it. Express business.
Two years ago, cloth cabinet (express cabinet) was not difficult. Intelligent express cabinet appeared as a new thing, and everyone did not understand it. Industry observers said that now to deal with the express business license and other related documents, the communication between express companies and local governments, property, neighborhood committees involves a game of relationship, the industrys more powerful companies (business) can be laid out, and even have a bargaining power.
The biggest difficulty is not manufacturing, not production, not pushing down, but the game with local property. According to industry observers, some property companies will question the legitimacy of the establishment of smart express cabinets, and how much money they earn, complaints are reported every day.
