According to the official website of Xinjiang Seismological Bureau, the epicenter was 92 kilometers away from Heshuo County, 120 kilometers away from Urumqi City and 74 kilometers away from Toxon County. The nearest town to the epicenter was Alehui Town, Toxon County. The earthquake was strong and the town government was undamaged.
