BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- According to the website of Ming Pao, Hong Kong, 52 cases of acute gastroenteritis have erupted recently in Baoxue kindergarten in Happy Valley and Shiweijiao Primary School in Yuanxuan College of Hong Kong Taoist Federation in Shiweijiao, Tsuen Wan. All patients are in stable condition. The Health Protection Centre of the Hong Kong Department of Health is continuing to investigate the incident.

Baoxue kindergarten has 6 males and 13 females, school children aged between 3 and 5 years old, and two staff members who have suffered from vomiting and diarrhea since July 7. At present, all of them have sought medical treatment without admission and are in stable condition.

A total of 12 boys and 19 girls aged between 6 and 13 at Shiweijiao Primary School, Yuanxuan College, Hong Kong Taoist Federation, were infected, with only the second grade unaffected. Vomiting, diarrhea and fever have occurred in the infected persons since the 8th day. 22 people have sought medical treatment. One 7-year-old girl was admitted to Margaret Hospital and the other 7-year-old boy was admitted to Tsuen Wan Gang An Hospital. Both of them were not discharged. All patients were in stable condition.

The Health Protection Centre of the Hong Kong Department of Health said it had sent staff to inspect schools and advised them on the necessary preventive measures, including proper and thorough disinfection and cleaning, proper disposal of vomit, personal and environmental hygiene, and medical supervision of schools. The hygiene of the two schools was satisfactory and there was no need to suspend classes.
