In response to Japans economic retaliation against Korea and restrictions on the export of semiconductor materials to Korea, the Korean media Labor News strongly condemned Japan.
Korea Radio (KBS) reported on July 10 that North Koreas Labor News criticized Japans restrictions on exports to South Korea in a commentary on the same day, saying that Japan had no reflection on past evils, but was becoming more and more arrogant and rampant. KBS pointed out that the DPRK had condemned Japans trade retaliation measures through foreign propaganda media, but it was the first time that it formally condemned Japan through official media.
Japans export restrictions are aimed at increasing pressure on South Koreas economy and evading liability for compensation, Labor News said. Japan refuses to apologize and compensate for past sins and trample on the interests of our nation. We must not sit idly by Japans brazen impulse.
KBS pointed out that Korean propaganda media such as between our nationalities and echoes also published articles condemning Japan for taking economic retaliation measures.
Observers learned that Japans Ministry of Economy and Industry announced on July 1 that it would strengthen the inspection and control of semiconductor materials exported to Korea and exclude Korea from the white list of trade. The so-called White List is a list of countries that are friendly to trade in safety and security formulated by the Japanese government. Japanese exporters can export high-tech products to the countries in the list through relatively simplified procedures. Japans measures to strengthen export control of semiconductor materials for South Korea came into effect on the 4th.
