Zhao Jianjun, deputy director of the Finance Department of the Ministry of Education, said that the relevant programs on expanding the coverage of scholarships in Higher Vocational colleges, improving the standards of subsidies and establishing national scholarships for secondary vocational education had been deliberated and approved by the executive meeting of the State Council, and documents had been issued and implemented in early July.

The concrete measures in the scheme are, first of all, to increase the number of national scholarships in Higher Vocational colleges. Since this year, the number of national scholarship awards for undergraduates has increased from 50,000 to 60,000. The 10,000 additional awards are all used to reward outstanding full-time vocational college students. The reward standard is 8,000 yuan per student per year.

The coverage of national motivation scholarships and state grants in higher vocational colleges has also expanded. From this year, the coverage of national motivation scholarship in higher vocational colleges will be increased by 10%, that is, from the current 3% to 3.3%, and the reward standard is 5000 yuan per student per year. From this spring semester, the coverage of national scholarship in higher vocational colleges will be increased by 10%, and the average subsidy standard will be raised from 3000 yuan to 3300 yuan per student per year.

For secondary vocational schools, Zhao Jianjun said that starting this year, a national scholarship for secondary vocational education will be established to reward students who are particularly outstanding in full-time secondary vocational schools (including technical schools). Each year, 20,000 students will be rewarded with a reward standard of 6,000 yuan per person. These policies treat students of public and private vocational colleges equally.

Zhao Jianjun pointed out that in the near future, specific allocation plans will be issued to all parts of the country for implementation. In the future, we will continue to adjust and improve the student aid policy system, and weave the student aid policy security network.
