Vehicle sales declined slightly

Passenger car production and sales decline less than the overall car

In June, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 1.598 million vehicles and 1.728 million vehicles respectively, up 7.2% and 10.7% respectively from the previous month, down 17.2% and 7.8% respectively from the same period last year, a slightly smaller decline than the overall decline of automobiles.

Sales and production of commercial vehicles declined year-on-year

In June, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 296,000 vehicles and 329,000 vehicles respectively, down 17.1% and 6.5% respectively from the previous month, while production and sales fell 17.5% and 17.8% respectively from the same period last year. Production and sales of 87,000 heavy trucks and 104,000 heavy trucks were completed respectively this month, with sales falling by 11.3% and 7.5% respectively over the same period last year.

Production and sales of pickup trucks declined year-on-year

From January to June, the sales of the top five pickup truck companies totaled 148,000 vehicles, down 5.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 64.8% of the total sales of pickup trucks, and the concentration dropped by 2.3 percentage points compared with January to March.

New Energy Vehicles Grow at a High Speed Year on Year

In June 2019, a total of 664,000 brand passenger cars were sold in China, down 12.2% from the same period last year, accounting for 38.4% of the total passenger car sales, down 1.9 percentage points over the same period last year. Among them, 191,000 brand cars were sold in China, down 0.6% from the same period last year, accounting for 22.2% of the total car sales, up 2.2 percentage points over the same period last year. SUV sales were 376,000, down 10.8% year-on-year, accounting for 50.8% of total SUV sales, down 6.3 percentage points from the same period last year; Chinese brand MPV sales were 69,000, down 30.5% year-on-year, accounting for 70.3% of total MPV sales, down 6.2 percentage points from the same period last year.

Decline in automobile exports narrowed

In June, the decline in auto exports narrowed. In the same month, automobile enterprises exported 96,000 vehicles, an increase of 22.6% over the previous month and a decrease of 3.3% over the same period last year. In terms of vehicle types, passenger cars exported 69,000 vehicles this month, an increase of 24.2% over the previous month and a decrease of 1.6% over the same period last year; commercial vehicles exported 27,000 vehicles, an increase of 18.8% over the previous month and a decrease of 7.4% over the same period last year.

From January to June, automobile enterprises exported 488,000 vehicles, a decrease of 4.7% over the same period. In terms of vehicle types, passenger cars exported 328,000 vehicles, a decrease of 12.2% over the same period; commercial vehicles exported 160,000 vehicles, an increase of 15.5% over the same period.
