World Wide Web Military Report The British Defense Ministrys website announced on October 9 that it planned to test directed energy weapons (DEW) in 2023 and prepare to allocate 130 million pounds (about 1.1 billion yuan) for research and development.

Laser and electromagnetic weapons have the potential to provide a powerful and low-cost weapon system for the British armed forces in order to completely change the battlefield situation, Defense Secretary Penny Modant said on the same day. This significant investment demonstrates Britains commitment to ensuring that the military is at the forefront of military technology. In a statement, the British Ministry of Defense pointed out that the new system (laser weapons and electromagnetic weapons) is expected to be tested on naval vessels and army equipment in 2023, and that both technologies will be applied by three services (Army, Navy and Air Force).

The Ministry of Defenses statement disclosed that the Ministry of Defense plans to allocate 130 million pounds to research and development of directional energy weapons, including building prototypes, building professional teams for implementation plans, hiring project managers and so on.
