1. Interpretation of Indicators

The growth rate of industrial added value: that is, the growth rate of industry, is an index used to reflect the change degree of the increase or decrease of industrial production in a certain period of time. Using this index, we can judge the operation trend of short-term industrial economy and the economic prosperity. It is also an important reference and basis for formulating and adjusting economic policies and implementing macro-control.

Product Sales Rate: The ratio of sales output to total industrial output, used to reflect the linkages between production and marketing of industrial products.

Export Delivery Value: refers to the value of products exported by industrial enterprises (including to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) or to foreign trade departments, as well as the value of products produced by foreign merchants such as samples, raw materials processing, parts assembly and compensation trade.

Average daily product output: It is calculated by dividing the total output of Industrial Enterprises above the scale announced in that month by the calendar days of that month.

2. Statistical Scope

The statistical range of industries above the scale is industrial enterprises with annual main business income of 20 million yuan or more.

Because the scope of Industrial Enterprises above the scale changes every year, in order to ensure that the data of this year is comparable with that of the previous year, the same period used to calculate the annual growth rate of various indicators such as product output is as consistent as possible with the statistical scope of enterprises in this period, and there is a caliber difference from the data published last year. The main reasons are: (1) the scope of statistical units has changed. Every year, some enterprises reach the scale of investigation, some enterprises withdraw from the scope of investigation because of the smaller scale, and there are also new enterprises, bankruptcy, note (revocation) enterprises and other effects. (2) There is a phenomenon of cross-regional duplicate statistics in the product output data of some enterprise groups (companies). According to the special survey, the cross-regional duplicate output of enterprise groups (companies) is weighed.

3. Investigation methods

The report forms of industrial production of Industrial Enterprises above the scale are fully investigated monthly (January data are exempted).

4. Division of Eastern, Central, Western and Northeast Regions

The eastern region includes 10 provinces (cities) of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong and Hainan; the central region includes 6 provinces (cities) of Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan; the western region includes Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang. Northeast China includes Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces.

5. Industry Classification Standards

To implement the National Economic Industry Classification Standard (GB/T4754-2017), see

6. Release Content Adjustment

The data of collective enterprises published in the past refers to enterprises registered as collectives. With the establishment of modern enterprise system, the proportion of enterprises registered as collectives has been declining (in 2018, the proportion of collective enterprisesbusiness income in Industrial Enterprises above the whole scale is only 0.18%). Therefore, the data of collective enterprises has been cancelled since 2019.
