The collapse of a house in Raoping, Guangdong Province: 6 rental construction workers trapped, 1 dead and 1 wounded

Six tenants from Jiangxi and Fujian were trapped. After receiving the report, the county Party committee and the county government immediately dispatched emergency rescue teams from counties, towns and villages to organize rescue. The County governments main leaders rushed to the scene to direct the search and rescue. By 0.35 a.m., all six trapped persons were successfully rescued. Four of them were not injured, one was slightly bruised, and one was seriously injured and sent to Xinfeng Town Central Hospital for rescue and ineffective death.

According to preliminary investigation, the collapsed house was rented by a small contractor to the local villagers. At the time of the accident, there were six people in the house resting (all construction workers). The collapsed houses were built in the 1950s in the middle of a row of semi-enclosed houses in Hecheng Lane, Huilou, Xinkui Village. According to the investigation by the county housing construction department, the bottom floor of the building wall of collapsed houses is built with raw mud, the second floor is built with raw mud bricks, the walls and roof trusses are aging, and the bearing capacity and stability are poor. The main reason for the collapse is the horizontal penetrating cracks at the bottom of the foundation of the load-bearing wall in the middle of the building (due to the failure of the wall decoration cover plate to be found in time), which results in the instability and collapse of the load-bearing wall caused by the insufficient bearing capacity of the load-bearing wall, and consequently the collapse of the two-story roof truss and the roof of the roof.

At present, the contractor, the owner of the house and other relevant personnel have been investigated by the public security organs, and the relevant rehabilitation work is in progress.
