Bezos Zans foster father: When he came to the United States at the age of 16, he couldnt even speak English.

Bezos recently tweeted to his adoptive father: When he came from Cuba at the age of 16, he was not only alone, but also spoke Spanish. His courage, determination and optimism were encouraging.

On Wednesday evening local time, Bezos and his son attended the opening ceremony of the New Statue of Liberty Museum in Ellis Island, New York City. In addition to them, guests included Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton. The Bezos family is one of the donors to the museum, which opened on Thursday.

Although Mike was not the biological father of Bezos, he raised the latter. On January 12, 1964, Bezos, formerly Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen, was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to a 17-year-old high school student, Jacklyn Gise.

Although Ted Jorgensen, Bezosbiological father, married Giss, he did not stay long in Bezos life. Giss divorced Jorgenson in 1965 and married Mike in 1968.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos is now worth $117 billion. In a video released Thursday, Bezos praised his adoptive father for his courage and optimism.

Bezos said in the video, Its hard to imagine that Mike came to this strange country alone without his family. Mike also said in the video: My parents are not allowed to go to the airport with me, so I have to board the plane alone and arrive in Miami in 45 minutes.

Mike recalled that he had only three pants, three shirts, three underwear and a pair of shoes, and his coat. Bezos added: His mother thought it must be very cold in the United States, so she prepared something special for him, and we still have them up to now.

Mike said, With the help of my sister, my mother made a coat out of those rags and knitting materials. In her opinion, I need such a thick coat.

Mike first spent three weeks in Matecumbe refugee camp in Florida, then was sent to Wilmington, Delaware, where he won a scholarship to go to college in Albuquerque.

Mike said, I knew almost nothing about Albuquerque at that time. But there he met Giss and her son Bezos. Its incredible, he added. Looking back on my life, I realized the American Dream 30 years ago. Thats great! (Small)
