Foreign Media: The United States accuses Iran of attacking Japanese tankers in the Gulf of Oman

Four anonymous U.S. officials told CNN just now that the United States had video and photo evidence to prove that Iranian ships carried unexploded mines from their hulls before the attack on the Japanese tanker in the Gulf of Oman on the 13th.

CNN said earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo accused Iran of being responsible for the attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on the 13th. He claimed that the conclusions were based on intelligence, but did not show any evidence to support his allegations to the public.

Photographs and videos now in the hands of the United States show an Iranian boat approaching a Japanese cargo ship, wearing an unexploded mine, anonymous U.S. officials said. He also said that the actions of Iranian ships were carried out after U.S. reconnaissance aircraft, drones and ships had arrived near the waters of the incident. The U.S. Department of Defense believed that Iranians wanted to destroy evidence of their involvement in the attack.

Oil tankers were attacked and caught fire in the Gulf of Oman on the 13th.

CNN said that as a media, it could not independently see the videos claimed to be mastered by the U.S. military, and it was unclear whether the pictures and videos would be made public.

On the 13th, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif said the oil tanker attack was very suspicious. Japanese Prime Minister Abe was visiting Tehran at the time of the incident. The word suspicious is not enough to describe what happened this morning, Zariff said in the social media.
