A man in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, was prosecuted for insulting the heroic martyrs who died in the fire on his micro-blog and filed a civil public interest suit attached to the criminal case.
Zhang Mou of Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, made improper remarks on Sina Weibo on April 1, insulting the heroic martyrs who died in Liangshan, Sichuan Province because of fire fighting, resulting in extremely bad social impact and harming social and public interests. On April 16, the Peoples Procuratorate of Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, approved the arrest of the suspect Zhang Mou on suspicion of provoking trouble.
Recently, the Peoples Procuratorate of Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province formally filed a civil public interest lawsuit attached to the case of insulting the reputation of Zhang Mous heroic martyrs to the Peoples Court of Yuyang District, requesting the court to order the defendant Zhang Mou to make an apology statement in the national media, and to make public to the family members of the heroic martyrs who died in the fire in Muli County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, for their acts of infringing the reputation of hero Apologize and eliminate the bad social influence caused by improper speech.
This case is the first case of public interest litigation for the protection of heroic martyrs in Shaanxi Province since the implementation of the Law of the Peoples Republic of China on the Protection of Heroic Martyrs.
