A new patent for Surface interior space was approved by Microsoft on May 11. Microsoft can reduce the use of Surface interior adhesives and make Surface easier to maintain through magnetic suction design.
The patent document states, This paper describes a method of attaching electronic components with magnetic suction. The device includes a housing and electronic components, which are connected to the surface of the housing by magnetic force.
Microsofts patent can align one or more magnetic attraction points of the electronic components in the device with the surface of the shell during the manufacture of the device, so that no additional adhesive is needed for bonding. It is not only suitable for rapid manufacturing and assembly, but also can greatly reduce the burden of maintenance and recycling.
As a conceptual design, Microsoft may not be used in real products very soon, but given the extremely difficult situation of previous Surface products, the early appearance of Microsofts patent may be a good thing for maintenance personnel.
