Hu Houkun mentioned that Huawei has made a lot of headlines in the past few months, and that in 2018, Huawei has also had a lot of big events and met many challenges. But he thinks its like riding the wind and breaking the waves. Since its like riding the wind and breaking the waves, there must be ups and downs. Huawei is actively responding to the challenges.
Reviewing Huaweis achievements in 2018, Huaweis global sales revenue in 2018 was 72.12 billion yuan, up 19.5% year-on-year, and its net profit was 59.3 billion yuan, up 25.1% year-on-year. In 2018, Huaweis R&D expenditure was 101.5 billion yuan, accounting for 14.1% of sales revenue. In the past decade, Huaweis R&D expenditure totaled more than 480 billion yuan.
In his speech, Hu Houkun talked about Huaweis views on the future and how Huawei can ride the wind and break the waves.
Two years ago, Huawei announced its vision for the next 20-30 years: building an interconnected intelligent world. For the future intelligent world, Hu Houkun mentioned two trends: zero search and hypervision.
The so-called zero search is that in the future intelligent world, there is no need to search. Human beings are not looking for things, but for us. As consumers, we think zero search scenarios are promising. No buttons, buttons to interact, as consumers will be completely free, hands are free, and ultimately free thinking. Hu Houkun said.
Super vision is 5G, AIAR/VR will help human break through the barrier of space distance knowledge, will see what is invisible in the past, better understand what is seen and heard.
These are only two of the future trends, and more similar trends will be seen in the next few years. Hu Houkun said.
So, how does Huawei build this intelligent world?
First of all, the connection is inseparable from 5G. Hu Houkun believes that the deployment speed of 5G network is much faster than expected.
Comparing the situation after the freezing of the 4G and 5G standards: one year after the freezing of the 4G standards, there were no mobile chips, no mobile phones, only 400 base stations; while after the freezing of the 5G standards, there were four 5G chips, 40 5G mobile phones and more than 100,000 base stations.
Huawei expects to have 6.5 million 5G base stations and 2.85 billion users by 2025, covering 58% of the worlds population. With the development of 5G network, the application side will be detonated accordingly. For example, AR/VR, 5G folding mobile phone.
This year, Huawei released its first 5G folding mobile phone at MWC. Hu Houkun believes that folding mobile phone plus 5G network will be a killer innovative product. In terms of VR/AR, Hu Houkun disclosed in his speech that Huawei planned to launch a disruptive VR terminal in the second half of this year.
In addition, Hu also shared Huaweis progress in AI and cloud. He believes that AI is accelerating the development of cloud. In the future, 97% of large enterprises will use AI and 77% of cloud apps will use AI.
For the future, Hu Houkun mentioned Huaweis Tech4ALL digital inclusion plan. It is understood that the goal of the project is to use the next five years to enable more than 500 million people around the world to benefit from digital technology. Huaweis technology should create value for all. (quiet)
