In response to the online report that Sun Yubing, a professor of North China Electric Power University, and others were suspected of falsifying team papers, Wu Suhua, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of North China Electric Power University, responded to the surging news on April 12: Our school attaches great importance to this matter, and is currently under investigation, experts of the academic committee are in the process of examination, because it involves the identification of academic papers, which may still have a process. If there is a result, we will release it on the public platform at the first time.

The screenshot shows that on April 4, North China Electric Power University issued a bulletin on the investigation of suspected academic misconduct, such as Sun Yubing. The Academic Committee of North China Electric Power University attached great importance to the problem of academic misconduct in the academic papers published by Professor Sun Yubing and others. According to the information clues reported by the network, a group of experts in related fields has been established. A working group was formed to initiate comprehensive verification. The results of the survey will be released to the public in time.

On April 12, Wu Suhua, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of North China Electric Power University, confirmed to Peng Mei News that the above-mentioned briefing was indeed issued by the university because of a report published on March 26 by ForBetter Science, a foreign language website focused on reporting academic misconduct scandals. The report disclosed that Sun Yubing, a researcher at the Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at the School of Environment and Engineering, North China Electric Power University, was suspected of falsifying team papers. Shortly after the report was published, several Chinese netizens translated it into Chinese.

This article exposes the problems existing among these research teams, such as data fraud, multi-use of a map, multi-use of a line and mutual citation to improve the quotation amount. One of the translators, Zhang Cheng (not his real name), told Peng Mei News that he was already working and that two friends were studying abroad. After reading the relevant reports, they were very angry and wanted to do something about it, so they took a few days to find the original paper to verify the accuracy of the above articles. All the papers were found, including the publication of journals and the names of papers. Its not necessarily true what the foreign media write. First of all, we have to confirm the authenticity.

According to Zhang Cheng, in addition to Sun Yubing, the people involved in the article include Huang Xiaoming, an experimenter of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Xiamen Institute of Technology, Pan Min, an associate professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Xiamen Institute of Technology, Li Fengbo, a lecturer of the School of Life and Environmental Sciences of Huangshan University and Yao Ting, a teacher of a military academy.

According to the clues provided by ForBetter Science, Zhang Cheng and others found that Pan Mins paper on material science published in 2018 was suspected of sharing the data of Sun Yubings paper published in 2015, while in the near future, Yao Ting, Sun Yubing and Huang Xiaomings three papers appeared the same research data, but not yet. The same authors are repeated; the infrared spectra of a paper published by Yao Ting in 2016 are exactly the same as those of Sun Yubing in the same year, and even the color and style of the curve are exactly the same; the data maps used in a paper published by Li Fengbo in 2018 are exactly the same as those in Sun Yubings paper published in 2016; and the data maps published by Li Fengbo in 2018 are exactly the same. Another paper is not only suspected of data fraud, but also part of the data is the same as the data in Sun Yubings paper published in 2017. Although Sun Yubing is also the author of this article, the research materials of the two papers are different, but they share the results.

Taking a paper published by Li Fengbo in 2018 as an example, this paper mainly demonstrates the absorption properties of magnetic iron oxide/paecilomyces composites, but an experimental diagram looks exactly the same as the carbon nanofibers displayed in Sun Yubings paper published in 2016 and even even the results of XPS and the color of the curve selected for drawing are the same.

Sun Yubing or plays a central role in it. He is not only suspected of fraudulent papers, but also shares his own data with others so that others can use his own data to send papers again. Zhang Cheng thinks. According to public information, Pan Min and Huang Xiaoming worked in Xiamen Polytechnic College, and as early as 2006-2009, they were contracted to study for masters degree in Environmental Engineering College of Hefei Polytechnic University. Coincidentally, from 2004 to 2007, Sun Yubing also graduated from the College of Environmental Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, where he completed his Ph.D. in the following three years.

The relationship between Yao Ting, Li Fengbo and Sun Yubing was also considered unusual. The author of Yao Tings paper published in 2016 is Li Fengbo, and Li Fengbo cooperated with Sun Yubing in 2018. Mutual citation of papers can also illustrate the close relationship between the three. Zhang Cheng introduced that 27 of 51 references in Yao Tings paper published in 2016 cited Sun Yubings paper, 26 of 44 references in another paper cited Sun Yubings paper, and 27 of 47 references in Li Fengbos paper published in 2018 cited Sun Yubings paper.

Generally speaking, if someone elses articles are cited in the paper, even if the cited person is very authoritative in the field, there will be no more than five articles cited. But they are also excessive. There are more than 40 references on the same topic, and more than 20 of them cite the same persons articles, which is mutual quotation. Zhang Cheng told Peng Mei News. The quotation of papers has become the currency to measure the value of academic publications. ForBetter Science also pointed out in its report that in order to increase the citation of individual researchers, there is a problem of mutual citation.

In response to the above situation, Wu Suhua, Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of North China Electric Power University, responded to the surging news on April 12, saying: Our school attaches great importance to this matter. At present, the experts of the academic committee are in the process of examination, because it involves the identification of academic papers, and there may still be a process. If there is a result, we will release it on the public platform at the first time.

Zhang Cheng believes that Wang Xiangke, Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of North China Electric Power University, may also be responsible if Sun Yubing is found to be involved in academic misconduct. As Sun Yubings direct leadership in North China Electric Power University, Wang Xiangke appeared as a correspondent author in several academic papers of the former on suspicion of data fraud. Li Fengbo, Huang Xiaoming and others have published academic papers suspected of data fraud in the Journal Journal of Molecular Liquids, and Wang Xiangke is one of the members of the editorial board of the journal.

At present, other schools have not responded to the suspected academic misconduct of Pan Min, Huang Xiaoming and Li Fengbo.
