According to the official website of Leiden University in the Netherlands, Zhang Maolin, a doctoral student graduated from Tsinghua University, died of a local apartment fire on January 17, 2019 at the age of 28. Zhang Maolin was born on July 25, 1991 in Yangtang Village, Qidong County, Hunan Province. He was admitted to Tsinghua University in the college entrance examination, and then obtained a masters degree from Tsinghua University. He was funded by the State Overseas Studies Fund Committee to study for a doctor of astronomy at Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2017.
