(On May 24, 2018, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, addressed the VivaTech Entrepreneurship and Technology Summit in Paris, France.)
Netease Technologies News, April 13, according to foreign media reports, a document from government regulators on Friday showed that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, a US social networking company, more than doubled his salary in 2018 to $22.6 million.
Over the past few years, Facebook has been strongly protested by the public for some of its misconduct, including its role in the so-called Russian disruption of the 2016 U.S. elections and its unauthorized access to millions of Facebook user profiles by Cambridge Analytica in the United Kingdom.
For the past three years, Zuckerbergs basic salary has been $1. However, his other salary in 2018 was $22.6 million, nearly half of which was for his personal safety. Zuckerberg earned $9.1 million in 2017, which means his salary figures more than doubled in 2018 from a year earlier. The company paid Zuckerberg $7.6 million for personal safety in 2017, compared with $5.1 million in 2016.
Sheryl Sandberg, the companys chief operating officer, earned $23.7 million in 2018, compared with $25.2 million in the previous year.
Facebook said Reed Hastings, Netflixs chief executive, would resign as a board member of the social media company and not be re-nominated.
Hastingss departure comes as Facebook, based in Menlo Park, California, is stepping up its video business. Hastings has been on Facebooks board of directors since 2011.
Facebook also said it would nominate Peggy Alford, PayPals senior vice president of core marketing, as a board member to replace Erskine Bowles, the honorary president of the University of North Carolina, who would no longer be nominated as a board member.
Facebook rose $1.59, or 0.90%, to close at $79.10 on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange on Friday. (Tianmen Mountain)
