According to Fox. com on April 11, the Genesis lunar probe fell to the surface of the moon at 19:25 p.m. on April 11 (3:25 a.m. Beijing time on April 12) due to a malfunction of its main engine.

It is reported that the descent process started smoothly, but the main engine subsequently went wrong. Task control tried to reset the system to get the engine to work again, but it was unsuccessful. The probe lost communication with the ground when it dropped to 149 meters from the moon.
