According to the Guardian, Rafael Correa, the former Ecuadorian president who granted Assange asylum that year, later argued that the security measures were routine and appropriate.

In 2010, the WikiLeaks website created by Assange published a large number of secret documents about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, causing sensation and controversy. Later, accused of rape by Swedish prosecutors, Assange entered the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in June 2012 to seek asylum in the United Kingdom so far.
