Ecuadors President Moreno delivered a video address on the morning of April 11, announcing the cancellation of diplomatic asylum for WikiLeaks founder Assange.

Moreno said that Assange had been well received by the Embassy in the past six years and 10 months. However, Assanges own actions violate the norms of international law, and his associated organizations interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and repeatedly threaten the Ecuadorian government. Assange himself violated the regulations by installing electronic equipment, shielding surveillance cameras and clashing with embassy personnel. Moreno also said that in accordance with humanitarian and national law norms, he had asked the British authorities not to extradite Assange to countries that might be tortured or face the death penalty.
