Superfungi are less likely to attack such people on a large scale.

Candida auricularis is a new species of human pathogenic fungi in recent years. Studies have shown that the lethal rate is as high as 60%. However, it can be relieved that there are relatively few clinical cases of Candida in China.

There were 587 infections in the United States, and nearly 50% of them died within 90 days.

A total of 18 cases of clinical infection were confirmed in mainland China.

In 2017, 24 countries around the world experienced an outbreak of epidemics, including Japan, Britain, Spain, India and other countries.

Yes, thats the superfungus, Candida ear.

What are the ear candida, which are susceptible groups, whether there are effective monitoring methods in clinic, and how to prevent them?

More hospital infections

The earliest appearance of Candida auricularis can be traced back to the report in Japan in 2009. It is called candida auricularis because it is isolated from the external auditory canal of patients. Since then, Candida cases have been found in many countries.

Zhang Hailong, deputy chief dermatologist of Xijing Hospital, told Daily Economic News that Candida auricularis may have existed in the past from some foreign reports, but it is not easy to infect people with perfect immune function, so it has not been found.

According to the current cases and situation of Candida in different countries, Candida infection can cause epidemic in hospitals.

The above research also points out that Candida auricularis can survive for a long time on the surface of clothing, skin and hospital facilities of infected patients and medical personnel, and can easily spread and infect patients with other diseases.

Huang Qing, deputy director of Dermatology Department of Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, told Daily Economic News that at present, nosocomial infection is the main cause. These patients live in hospitals and have poor immunity, so they can be considered as a conditional pathogen. People with normal immunity are generally not infected with candida.

Zhang Hailong also told Daily Economic News that infecting Candida has the characteristics of a limited population and is easy to infect people with immune deficiencies, such as the elderly, cancer patients, especially those who have undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy, whose immunity has almost been destroyed before recovery and is still in a very weak window period, they are vulnerable to infection.

The management of clinical antibiotics should be strengthened

Candida auricularis has multiple drug resistance, which leads to higher mortality. Symptoms suggest that people infected with Candida are initially feverish, painful and fatigued. If fungi spread to the blood, brain or heart, they can even kill people.

CDC has listed Candida auricularis as an urgent threat. According to the latest report on its official website, the number of infections in the United States has risen to 587, with nearly 50% of those infected dying within 90 days.

In contrast, 18 cases of clinical candidiasis were confirmed in mainland China. Huang Guanghua, a researcher at the State Key Laboratory of Mycology, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the main reason for delayed reporting of superfungal clinical infections in China may be technical problems. Mass spectrometers are not very common outside the third-tier hospitals in China, and the possibility of missed detection should not be ruled out.

From this point of view, the actual number of infections in China may be higher than the current surveillance. However, it should be noted that Liao Wanqing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of dermatology at Shanghai Changzheng Hospital of the Second Military Medical University, said that according to the current monitoring results, the possibility of an outbreak of Candida in China is low.

Huang Qing also believed that based on the limited population infected with Candida, the possibility of large-scale transmission of Candida in China is relatively small.

Even so, prevention is always the first priority. Liao Wanqing pointed out that we need to be alert to the potential threat of superfungi, early detection, early isolation and early treatment.

How to avoid causing more harm?

In Zhang Hailongs opinion, the management of antibiotics should be strengthened. Abuse of antibiotics can cause colony imbalance, just as sparrows are knocked out and insects grow naturally. The use of antibiotics may kill the dominant bacteria while the original vulnerable bacteria are not sensitive to drugs but will multiply in large quantities.

These studies also suggest that the abuse of broad-spectrum antifungal drugs can reduce the chances of Candida albicans and other pathogenic Candida infection to a certain extent, which may also increase the competitiveness of Candida ears, thus making it a dominant pathogenic candida. Therefore, it is suggested to strengthen the management of antimicrobial agents in order to prevent the spread of Candida auricularis and related pathogenic candida.

Not only candida, but also the increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics and the frequent occurrence of superbacteria are closely related to the abuse of antibiotics. It is particularly important to strengthen the management of clinical application of antibiotics.

Huang Qing also cited as an example the current clinical prescription for miconazole nitrate (miconazole nitrate) has become less and less, because there are more and more miconazole-resistant strains. Fungi are an organism, and there will be a variety of mutations to deal with external threats. This is a natural law, clinical need to strengthen the management of antibiotics.
