Hot eyes! Two passengers brought 670 old tree frogs into Shenzhen to make bait.

On the evening of March 21, two male passengers arrived from Luohu Port with large bags and fishing rods. When bags were examined by X-ray machine, customs officers found abnormalities in the machine-inspected images. The images showed that the items in bags were packed in several containers and had biological characteristics. Customs officers then asked two passengers to open their bags for detailed inspection.

As soon as the bag was opened, a strong smell of fishy smell came to my nose. Customs officers said that there were many transparent plastic boxes in the baggage, which contained a living frog, densely packed and still crawling. After checking, one passenger carried 32 boxes and the other 35 boxes, each containing 10 frogs, totaling 670 frogs.

Faced with inquiries from customs officers, the two parties indicated that they were friends and liked fishing. The frogs were caught by the riverside in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and were ready to be used as bait for fishing. According to preliminary customs identification, these frogs are old tree frogs, also known as giant tree frogs, green rain frogs. The frog species is light green, white abdomen, fat and round adult, with drooping skin on both sides of the forehead, wide mouth slightly upward, like a giggling old man, so it has the name of old frog.
