Establishing the first large multi-center birth defect queue in China, putting forward the birth defect monitoring program and appropriate intervention mode, building the national data platform of birth population and birth defect, and establishing the teratogenic risk database. On April 10, the Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University held a mid-term exchange meeting on the national key research and development project Establishing the birth cohort and carrying out the risk study of major birth defects, and introduced the progress of the project.
There are about 900,000 new birth defects in China every year. With the implementation of the comprehensive two-child policy, the number of births will continue to increase, and the proportion of older pregnant women will also increase significantly. It is urgent to strengthen the prevention and control of birth defects in China. It is urgent to propose a birth defect monitoring program suitable for Chinese population. For this reason, in April last year, the project Establishing birth cohort and carrying out major birth defect risk research was officially launched in Beijing. It is expected to establish a pre-pregnancy-early birth cohort and biological sample bank covering 15 provinces, cities and 500,000 people in China.
It is reported that 33 medical institutions across the country have participated in the project cooperation, more than 60,000 pregnant women have successfully entered the birth cohort. This is the first time such a large-scale birth cohort. Collecting and analyzing these data is a very huge process and work. After collecting 500,000 data, the relevant content of birth defects was studied in depth in three or five years, covering the birth cohort and its standard establishment, the investigation of environmental factors affecting birth defects, the influence of maternal perinatal drug exposure on birth defects of offspring, congenital heart disease and other major births. The screening of high-risk teratogenic risk factors in perinatal period of defect has different levels. Based on the analysis of environmental factors, genetic factors, nutritional diet, chronic diseases, drugs, psychosocial factors and behavioral patterns, this paper classifies and classifies the high-risk teratogenic risk factors of major birth defects, forms a teratogenic risk database, and formulates a pre-pregnancy-early teratogenic risk monitoring program and implementation path suitable for the Chinese population. It will build a national data platform for birth population and birth defects, formulate implementation paths for the prevention of birth defects before and during early pregnancy, and promote its application nationwide, laying a foundation for the compilation of guidelines and the formulation of national standards.
