BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) Central News Agency reported that Rothma, wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib, was again charged with corruption 10 days after she was suspected of bribery in a school project of 1.25 billion ringgit, but she denied the charges. It is reported that if convicted, she may face up to 20 yearsimprisonment, a fine of five times bribery or a 10,000 ringgit penalty.
Rosmah Mansor was reportedly arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on the 9th and questioned in Kuala Lumpur Court on the 10th on suspicion of receiving 5 million ringgit bribes under the Sarawak School Solar Energy Program.
According to the complaint, Rosema was suspected of bribing the director of Jepak Holdings Limited at his home in Kuala Lumpur for 5 million ringgit on December 20, 2016. Without bidding, the operator was able to obtain the approval of the Ministry of Education of Malaysia. 369 schools in Sarawak Village had solar panel projects with a total value of 1.25 billion ringgit.
Reported that if Rosema is convicted, he may face up to 20 yearsimprisonment, five times the fine for bribery or 10,000 ringgit penalty.
Rosema was also charged with 17 counts, including money laundering in 7097 750 ringgit, in 2018, becoming Malaysias first ever accused wife of a former prime minister, but she denied all the charges and the case is still pending.
