On March 31, two PLA fighter planes flew over the so-called midline of the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwan authorities reacted strongly, saying that this undermined the status quo across the Straits.

In this regard, Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman of the National Taiwan Office, said that this was the normal arrangement in the annual training plan of the PLA.

Ma Xiaoguang pointed out that there is only one China in the world. The mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China. Chinas sovereignty and territorial integrity have never been separated, nor allowed to be separated.

Ma Xiaoguang stressed that safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is the sacred duty of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army and the fundamental interests of compatriots across the Straits. It is the common responsibility of compatriots across the Straits to oppose Taiwan independence.
