U.S. Attorney General: The deleted Russia Gate report will be released within a week

On March 24, Barr submitted to Congress a four-page main conclusion of the investigation, after receiving a 22-month report from Special Prosecutor Miller. This is his first public appearance since he wrote to Congress.

The hearing was held in a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee. The theme was originally about the US Justice Departments budget for the new fiscal year, but on the spot, several members of Parliament questioned Barr about whether the Russia Gate report could be fully made public.

Barr refused to discuss the substance of the report, but explained the process of receiving and reviewing it. He said he had asked Miller to review four pages of the main conclusions, but Miller refused.

Barr told members of Congress that his previous plan to publish an abridged version of Millers report in mid-April was still in sight. The nearly 400-page report is being thoroughly reviewed to remove information from the grand jury and details related to the pending investigation. The excised sections of the report will be coded in different colours with explanations of the retained information.

According to Barrs main conclusion, Trumps campaign team or anyone associated with it did not conspire or cooperate with the Russian government to intervene in the 2016 general election. In response, Democrats insisted that Barr provide a complete report and all the basic evidence, while US President Trump and Republicans said the attorney generals conclusion was sufficient to prove that the president was absolutely innocent.

At that days hearing, Democratic lawmakers also questioned Barrs handling of the Russia Gate report. Nita Lowe, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said she was surprised that Barr had shortened Millers report to four pages in two days. Even for those who have done similar work, I think its more doubtful than impressive. Barr responded that Millers ideas were not mysterious to the Justice Department before the report was submitted. I am presenting the basic conclusions and trying to describe the report in Millers language. He also said that after consulting with congressional leaders, he might disclose some abridged details of the investigation, but had no plans to ask the court to allow him to disclose information about the grand jury. On May 1 and 2, Barr will testify in the Judicial Committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate on the Russian Gate report. The chairman of the Judicial Committee of the House of Representatives, Democratic Congressman Nadler, said recently that he hoped Miller would attend the hearing. In order to properly question the Special Prosecutor, the Commission must receive a complete investigation report. Source: Responsible Editor of CNN: Liu Yuxin_NBJS7825
