Within seven years, I escaped three times, and I was caught back. Every time, I was beaten and scolded.
Despite being rescued for half a year, Tian Junjie, a 29-year-old boy from Anyang, Henan Province, said nightmare memories of years were still lingering in his mind. He claimed that he was forced to work for seven years at his silk-drawing factory and at home by Wang Yingjun, a village official in Xixindian Township, Botou City, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, until he was rescued jointly by the police of Henan and Hebei provinces.

After being rescued, Tian Junjie and his family reported the case to the police, demanding that Wang Yingjun be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crimes of illegal detention, forced labor and intentional injury. To their familys surprise, on March 13 this year, the Public Security Bureau of Botou City, Hebei Province, issued a notice not to file a case, believing that there is no criminal fact, no need to investigate criminal responsibility, not to file a case.
Villagers were accused of detaining young men for seven years
On April 2, upstream journalists rushed to Botou City, Hebei Province, where they met the victim Tian Junjie and his cousin Tian Weihong.
Tian Weihong introduced that his cousin Tian Junjie went out to work in 2007 and never contacted his family. In order to retrieve Tian Junjie, the whole family has been searching around for years without success. It was not until September 21, 2018 that Tian Junjie was found in Wang Yings military home in Junwangzhuang Village, Xixindian Township, Botou City, Hebei Province.

Tian Junjie, sitting on the chair, is thin and his eyes are dull. He told upstream journalists that in 2007, at the age of 17, he came to Tianjin with his fellow countrymen. In the next two years, he was forced to work in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and other construction sites. The boss never gives money. He just eats and stays and keeps people from running.
Tian Junjie recalled that he was then tossed and transferred to Cangzhou and Zhuangzhuang brick factories in Hebei Province, where he met Wang Yingjuns wife less than half a year later. Later, Wang Yingjuns wife took him to her silk drawing factory. Ive never been paid to go to a wire drawing factory. I told Wang Yingjun that I wanted to go home, but he always said that if you had no ID card or money, the police would catch you and you would not be able to go home.
In order to go home, Tian Junjie said, I escaped three times, but every time I escaped, I was caught by Wang Yingjun and scolded. According to his introduction, Wang Yingjuns silk-drawing factory closed within a few years, and Tian Junjie was arranged to work in Wang Yingjuns house, such as farming, raising pigs and ducks.
Wang Yingjun denies Tian Junjies accusations of forced labor, abuse and not allowing him to go home. Wang Yingjun told upstream journalists that he had only taken in Tian Junjie from Hezhuang Brick Factory, never scolded him, and never withheld a penny. Wang Yingjun also said that Tian Junjie never said to go home, nor did he escape.
Some villagers told upstream journalists that Wang Yingjun had always said that Tian Junjie was adopted by his family. Tian Junjie has always lived in a small house in Wang Yings home in the east of the village. Passing by the fields, villagers often see Tian Junjie, who works in the fields.
Mysterious telephone report and police rescue in both places
Tian Weihong told upstream journalists that Tian Junjies rescue process was rather tortuous.
Tian Weihong introduced that on September 19, 2018, a mysterious phone call entered the 110 duty room of Yonghe Police Station of Anyang County Public Security Bureau, Henan Province, to know the telephone number of Tianying Village Committee of Yonghe Township, Anyang County. Subsequently, the phone calls into the village committee office. The man said that my brother was still alive, working in a local one-man factory, and he had a hard life without food or clothing. He said that my brother was homesick and hoped that we could get him back soon. Tian Weihong said that in the telephone, the mysterious person has been reluctant to disclose the location information of his brother.
On September 21, 2018, Tian Weihong alerted the police in Anyang, Henan Province.
With the help of Anyang police in Henan Province and Cangzhou police in Hebei Province, Tian Junjies location was quickly found - Junwangzhuang Village, Xixindian Township, Botou City, Hebei Province. Subsequently, the police of Anyang City and Botou City worked together. Tian Weihong found his cousin Tian Junjie, who had been missing for 11 years, in the east of Wang Ying Junjia Village, a local village branch.

Upstream journalists contacted the criminal police detachment in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, who participated in the rescue. The detachment abducted civilian police and said it was true. We did participate in the rescue and succeeded.
Gao, a police officer surnamed in Anyang, Henan Province, introduced the rescue situation to the upstream journalists: The rescued person (referring to Tian Junjie) lived in a small shabby house, living in extremely poor conditions, and wore ragged clothes.
Dressed in rags and smelled bad when rescued
Tian Weihong recalled that he once again saw his family members who had disappeared for many years and choked. It was very sad to see him come out of the broken house. Hes thin and small, and he smells bad. Dressed in rags, my heart is very uncomfortable. He didnt know me when he wanted to hold him. Seeing me holding him, I thought I was going to hit him. I was so scared that I hid behind. Later, when I heard that I was his second brother, I knew that my family had come to pick him up and had been close to me, refusing to leave. Tian Weihong recalled that when Tian Junjie was found, his accent had already disappeared from his hometown of Anyang, Henan Province. He was very timid and lively.
Tian Weihong introduced that when he found Tian Junjie, he would take him back to his hometown in Anyang on the same day.
It is unacceptable to refuse to file a case with the police.
In order to recover justice for his brother, Tian Weihong took Tian Junjie to report the case to Fuzhen Squadron of the Criminal Police Brigade of Botou Public Security Bureau in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province on December 21, 2018. At that time, the charges were suspected of illegal detention, forced labor and intentional injury.
After reporting the case, Tians family has been waiting for the police notice.
On March 13 this year, the Public Security Bureau of Botou City, Hebei Province, issued a notice not to file a case. The notice said: Tian Junjie, who was charged by your unit on December 21, 2018, was illegally detained and forced to work. After examination, our bureau considers that there are no criminal facts and there is no need to investigate criminal responsibility. According to Article 112 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the Peoples Republic of China, it is decided not to file a case.
Tian Weihong said that waiting for several months was equivalent to such a notice. Its hard for the whole family to say that the other party is innocent.

On April 3, upstream journalists called the Public Security Bureau of Botou City, Hebei Province, to find out the progress of the investigation and the reasons why the case was not filed. The office staff of the Bureau said they were not sure. They asked the local propaganda department and provided a telephone call. Reporters then dialed the phone, the other party also did not know, and then to someone in the office hang up the phone.
