On the morning of March 15, after the closing of the second session of the 13th National Peoples Congress, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with Chinese and foreign journalists in the Golden Hall on the third floor of the Great Hall of the People.
On-site journalists asked whether the Sino-US trade war was an opportunity or a negative impact on the development of Sino-EU relations.
Li Keqiang answered that Sino-US trade frictions are bilateral matters. We will not use third parties, let alone harm third parties. Both China and Europe are important poles of multipolarity in the world.
He said that there are both cooperation and friction between China and Europe, which existed both before and now. However, the experience accumulated over a long period of time in resolving differences and frictions should continue to be used. It is very important that mutual trust be strengthened between China and Europe.
He said that we are pushing forward the Sino-EU investment negotiations in order to make the two-way investment more open and benefit both sides. The two sides should treat each other with an open mind. We should properly resolve differences in cooperation so that our Sino-EU relations can move forward steadily.
Soon I will go to EU headquarters and hold a new round of Leadersdialogue with EU leaders. I hope both sides will look at China-EU relations from a strategic and long-term perspective and promote the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations with mutual respect and understanding.
