Taiwanese NPC deputies: adhering to the one-China principle is the right path and the bottom line

As a deputy to the National Peoples Congress, I feel deeply honored and responsible. As a representative of the National Peoples Congress of Taiwanese nationality, Lin Qing, president of the Qingdao Taiwanese Federation, expressed his pride and excitement in his words.

Yesterday, the second session of the 13th National Peoples Congress opened in the Great Hall of the People. Nearly 3,000 NPC delegates attended the event, and Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council made a report on the work of the government to the General Assembly.

The Taiwan-related part of the governments work report seems to be brief, but it conveys a very important signal. Lin Qing said that the Prime Ministers five sentences fully embodied the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinpings important speech at the 40th anniversary meeting of the publication of the Letter to Taiwan compatriots, and also provided a guide for action in the new era.

Adhering to the one-China principle and the 1992 consensus is not only the right way, but also the bottom line. Lin Qing stressed that the central governments policy towards Taiwan is consistent. We oppose Taiwan independence in order to safeguard the common interests of the entire Chinese nation. There is no reason why compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits are one family, and there is no reason why they should not develop hand in hand and share development.

On the morning of the 5th, after the opening meeting of the 2nd National Peoples Congress of the 13th National Peoples Congress, the 2nd ministerial passage of the 2nd National Peoples Congress of 2019 was held in the Great Hall of the People. Liu Jieyi, director of the Taiwan Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Office of the State Council, was interviewed by the media on the spot

The compatriots on both sides share the same roots, and Chinese culture is our common heirloom. Together with our compatriots in Taiwan, we should inherit and carry forward the fine traditional culture and constantly deepen the spiritual harmony between compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Director Lius remarks inspired Lin Qing, a representative of the National Peoples Congress of Taiwan. In the new era, we should actively explore the new development of Chinese culture on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, closely link and inherit the traditional culture on both sides, strengthen the exchanges between young people on both sides of the Strait, and achieve spiritual harmony between them.

On February 28 last year, in order to carry out the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress of the CPC and the important thought of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Taiwans work, the mainland issued and implemented 31 measures to benefit Taiwan compatriots, aiming to share the development opportunities of the mainland with Taiwan compatriots and provide equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan enterprises.

Over the past year since the implementation of Article 31, Taiwan compatriots have felt a real sense of gain and satisfaction, and more and more young Taiwanese have come to the mainland to pursue, build and realize their dreams. Speaking of this, Lin Qings smile is more and more brilliant. The proposal of Article 31 provides great convenience for Taiwanese people to study, start their own businesses, find jobs and live in the mainland. It is no longer difficult for Taiwanese people to take part in the mainland vocational examinations and the selection of honorary titles.

More than 2000 Taiwanese enterprises have received preferential tax treatment, more than 100 Taiwanese enterprises have received special policy support, more than 800 Taiwanese have obtained popular professional licenses, and more than 100 Taiwanese have won honorary titles such as May Day Labor Medal. Thirty-one items make Taiwanese compatriots feel more at home working and living in the mainland, and these examples are the most authentic portrayals. Lin Qing said.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the motherlands mainland. The storms of the past 70 years have made our country prosperous and strong step by step. As a representative of Taiwanese nationality, Lin Qing also has his own feelings. The great achievements of the mainland in the past 70 years have attracted worldwide attention. We hope that the development of the mainland will also bring opportunities to Taiwan compatriots, find the future direction, work together to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and create a better future for compatriots across the Straits.
