China News Agency, Beijing, March 5 - The second session of the 13th National Peoples Congress opened in Beijing on 5. On the first Delegate Passage before the opening of the Congress, three NPC delegates from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao focused on the construction of the Great Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to answer questions from reporters.

Talking about how Guangdong understands the great opportunities that the construction of Dawan District brings to the development of the three places, Lin Shaochun, Standing Committee and executive vice governor of Guangdong Provincial Committee, said that Hong Kong and Macao have brought not only capital but also market-oriented management concept in the development of Guangdong. Hong Kong and Macao are participants, contributors and beneficiaries of Guangdongs development. The construction of Dawan District will bring a new big development opportunity to the three areas.

Lin Shaochun said that the economy, internationalization and marketization of Hong Kong and Macao are very high, and their openness to the outside world is also very high. Guangdong can learn from Hong Kong and Macao to promote deepening reform, opening up, more convenient investment, more free trade and smoother factor flow in Guangdong. At the same time, the high-end elements of scientific and technological power in Hong Kong and Macao are very strong. There are four universities in Hong Kong and Macao ranking the top 100 in the world. If combined with Guangdongs relatively complete industrial system, it can promote the scientific and technological innovation ability of Guangdongs industry and achieve high-quality development.

Lin Shaochun also said that for Hong Kong and Macao, the area of the Dawan District is 56,000 square kilometers, with a population of 70 million, and the total economy is close to $1.6 trillion. Such a large economy and such a large market will bring new development opportunities to Hong Kong and Macao and expand their development space.

Tan Yaozong, member of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress and consultant to the Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Democratic Construction of Hong Kong, said that Hong Kong hoped to strengthen its cooperation with the cities in the Dawan District. The deputies to the Hong Kong Peoples Congress are also ready to propose to the Central Committee that a group of elite representatives from all walks of life in Hong Kong can be appointed to form an advisory panel to put forward innovative and practical opinions and suggestions for the development of the Dawan District. Last year, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was opened to traffic, and the high-speed railway and the whole national railway network have been connected, greatly shortening the distance and making the traffic faster and more convenient. So we should take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen cooperation.

Tan Yaozong said that many Hong Kong people also want to work, start businesses and settle down in Dawan District. He also mentioned that he hoped to have more convenience in transportation, taxation, youth entrepreneurship, hospitals, housing, bank account opening, and strengthen the interconnection of people flow, logistics and capital flow.

According to Gao Kaixian, a member of the Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region and chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Macao, the construction of the Great Bay Area can give Macao a broad space and platform for development. This is also what the Macau citizens look forward to. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Macau also firmly seizes the opportunity to integrate into the overall development of the country. As a deputy to the National Peoples Congress, he also hopes to promote the construction of Dawan District to all parts of Macao. Gao Kaixian said that the Outline of the Development Planning of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Great Bay Area has just been published, and there are still many specific matters to be implemented. I believe that many specific measures will be introduced one after another. In this process, as representatives, we also hope to listen to opinions from all walks of life, collect opinions and suggestions from all walks of life, and make suggestions to the country. I hope that we can work hand in hand to build the Dawan District and Macao so that the practice of one country, two systems in Macao will be better.
