Venezuelas Foreign Minister, Alejasa, responded to comments made by Bolton, the White House National Security Adviser, on Monroe Doctrine in Venezuela on March 3, refuting allegations made by U.S. officials and saying that the U.S. reiterated the doctrine of inappropriate and illegal as colonial arrogance, which has been and will always be unacceptable.
In addition, Areaza also strongly condemned some Latin American governments for thanking and celebrating the US intervention in Venezuela.
Monroe Doctrine was first proposed by then President Monroe in 1823. It was nominally declared that America is the Americas of Americans. In essence, it opened the way for the United States to dominate the Americas and pursue power politics, forcing Latin American countries to act according to the will of the United States. In 2013, then Secretary of State Kerry declared that the Monroe Doctrine era was over and that the United States would establish an equal partnership with Latin American countries. However, Trumps government once again advocated Monroe Doctrine and forcibly interfered in Venezuelas political situation.
