Gao Fu, member of the CPPCC National Committee, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that Chinas research and development of biological products and vaccines ranked among the advanced countries in the world and should not lose confidence in Chinas vaccines.
The vaccine itself should be distinguished from the links of vaccine production and marketing.
As director of the CDC, I tell you rightly and vigorously: Chinese vaccine, very good! Gao Fu reminds us that we must distinguish vaccine from vaccine problem, and separate the vaccine itself from the links of vaccine production and marketing.
Gao Fu introduced that Chinas research and development of biological products and vaccines is not inferior to that of developed countries, and ranks among the best in the world. Some vaccines in China have been certified by WHO and have been promoted to the world. For example, the Japanese encephalitis vaccine in China has been used in some countries.
In view of the problems in the field of vaccines, Gao Fu believes that the most important thing is to stick to problem orientation and what problems should be solved, but dont lose confidence in Chinas vaccines.
SARS-like viruses may occur at any time, but SARS events will never happen again.
In an interview with reporters today, Gao Fu said that if SARS does not come or if brothers and sisters of SARS do not come, we can not manage it, because new and sudden infectious diseases are a worldwide challenge. But I am confident that the SARS incident will not happen, thanks to the construction of infectious disease surveillance network in our country, we can block the virus when it comes.
Goufu cites a typical case in which a South Korean patient with Moss virus (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, MERS) entered China. We isolated and treated him in time so that Moss virus did not spread in China. Moss virus infected 186 patients in South Korea, resulting in 39 deaths.
SARS-like viruses may occur at any time, but SARS events will never happen again. Gao Fu said.
