Overseas Network, January 24, according to Japans current affairs news agency, 23 local time, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono held talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Jing and the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on the rapidly deteriorating relations between Japan and South Korea. Japanese media said that there is still no sign of Japan-ROK relations being repaired.
South Koreas Ministry of Defense said Wednesday afternoon, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force patrol aircraft once again close to the South Korean naval vessels flying. Kang Jinghe immediately expressed his concern at the beginning of the conversation. Japanese Self-Defense Force patrol planes continue to fly close to [Korean naval vessels]. I regret that. Kawatano immediately retorted: The Self-Defense Force patrol aircraft did not fly at close range. I regret the statement made by the Korean Ministry of Defense.
Hanoi intends to repair the worsening relations between Japan and South Korea through talks. He said during the talks: It is precisely because the relationship between Japan and South Korea is in a very serious state, so it is meaningful to meet directly.
According to Japanese media, there has been no direct dialogue between Japanese and Korean foreign ministers for four months. The last time was in September 2018. However, the relationship between Japan and South Korea is still in a state of invisible signs of repair.
The two sides also mentioned in the talks that the gap between the two countries is deepening because of the Korean labor lawsuit. During the talks, Hanoi asked Kang Jinghe about the discussions of the Korean government on the relevant countermeasures, and directly asked the ROK to negotiate with Japan on the basis of the agreement on the right of claim between Japan and ROK. The two sides also exchanged views on the issue of the fire control radar illuminated by Korean naval vessels on Japanese Self-Defense Force aircraft.
The foreign ministers of the two countries have always agreed to deepen the cooperation between the United States, Japan and South Korea.
