On January 24, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held a press conference in Beijing in the fourth quarter of 2018 to inform the progress of human resources and social security work in 2018 and the next work arrangement.

Lu Aihong said that in 2018, 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities adjusted the minimum wage standards.

By December 2018, the minimum monthly wage in Shanghai had reached 2420 yuan, the highest in China. The minimum monthly wage in Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu and Zhejiang is more than 2,000 yuan.

As for the next work arrangement, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs said that it would improve the enterprises wage and income distribution policy, promote the reform of the wage determination mechanism of state-owned enterprises, and further promote the implementation of the reform of the salary system for the head of state-owned enterprises. We will improve the macro-guidance system for wage distribution in enterprises, do a good job in salary survey, and timely publish relevant salary and labor cost information.

On January 10, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Social Affairs announced the monthly minimum wage standard in all regions of the country (as of December 2018). Among them, the monthly minimum wage standard in Shanghai reached 2420 yuan, which is the highest in the country. The minimum monthly wage in Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu and Zhejiang is more than 2,000 yuan.
